I have chosen to give a summary of ‘The Bath,’ which is an excerpt from Raymond Carver’s ‘What We Talk About When We Talk About Love.’ In this selection, a boy gets hit by a car on his birthday, causing a bit of distress for his family. His mother takes him to the hospital. His father there once he hears and waits for hours until decided he wanted to go home a take a bath. While there, he gets a call from the baker, but has no idea what the man is going on about. The father then returns to the hospital to await his son’s wakening. You see, the boy falls into a sleep, which the doctors expect him to rouse from any minute. However, as the time drags on, the boy’s parents grow more worried. The boy’s mother forgot all about the cake she had ordered
