Who is Bilbo Baggins? Bilbo is a Hobbit who went on an adventure that changed his life forever. He resides in the shire and lives a normal next to boring life. One side if his family were adventures and the other wasn’t. Of course, Bilbo chose the path of least excitement. Thanks to
Gandalf, Bilbo went on an adventure, but it wasn’t just any normal adventure. This adventure was to help dwarves take back their home. Bilbo is a hero because he becomes selfless, hardworking and skillful.
During the beginning of The Hobbit Bilbo Baggins is selfish and doesn’t want anything to do with the dwarves. This all turns around when he accepts the contract offered by the dwarves to help them in their journey. This journey was in fact dangerous, but Bilbo was willing to help because he felt bad for what the dwarves were going through. Throughout the journey
Bilbo becomes willing to do whatever the dwarves can’t. This includes walking into the mountain to talk to Smaug or walk into an area without being heard. One of his most selfless actions was when he saved the dwarves from the spiders in Mirkwood forest.
Bilbo was never hardworking before his adventure. All he did was lay around, drink tea and get fat. He never had to work for anything like getting food, or in the dwarves case getting home. The Dwarves changed his perspective on everything. He became happier than before and he was willing to do what was necessary to get the job done. Even if it required him to talk to a dragon that killed hundreds of dwarves, so that he can help his friends take back what was rightfully theirs. He became willing to fight for food. When he came went home he had a different outlook on life.
