Fathers are very important and a necessity to growing up. They teach leadership and responsibility. In the play, Romeo and Juliet, Mr. Capulet is a good father at first because he cares about his daughter, Juliet’s, Opinion. That all changes when he goes off the handle and becomes very selfish. My dad is very caring of my opinion, although sometimes he can get very mad at me. Nothing like Mr. Capulet though. I am very close to my dad, like every daughter should be. In the play, Romeo and Juliet, Juliet's father, Mr. Capulet is a responsible father. He does have a temper though. In Act 3, Paris asks Juliet for her hand in marriage and Mr. Capulet forces Juliet to get married the next week. They do not realize that Juliet is already married. Juliet obviously does not want to marry him because she is in love with another man. Mr. Capulet explodes and starts calling Juliet foul names. He is obviously not fit for the dad position. Of course, you have to think of the time period and how parents did not really raise their children, so they do not have as much of an emotional connection to their kids. With that being said it is still not something that my dad would say to me. When I first started reading Romeo and Juliet I did not think that Mr. Capulet was a bad father and that my dad was like him. Then as the play progressed I realized that Juliet’s dad is nothing like my father. Mr. Capulet is cruel to Juliet. One of the only similarities between my father and Mr. Capulet is that I would not talk to my dad about who I am dating or like. Juliet does not say anything about her infatuation for Romeo. Another similarity is that when I disagree with him, he gets angry. He does not go to the extremity that Mr. Capulet goes
“Anyone can have a child and call themselves [a parent] but a real parent is someone who puts that child above their own selfish needs and wants. ”(unknown) As the judge, my purpose is to provide the victim of Romeo and Juliet’s death a punishment. Many characters had a major impact in Romeo and Juliet’s death. However, Lord Capulet’s impact was massively effective in result of his actions and choices made.
Lady Capulet tried to talk Juliet into marrying Paris by saying, “Well, think of marriage now; younger than you, Here in Verona ladies of esteem, Are made already mothers: by my count, I was your mother much upon these years That you are now a maid. Thus then in brief: The valiant Paris seeks you for his love…(Doc B)” This was her mother's way of saying that Juliet should marry Paris, because he is a good man that can take care of her. Also she is trying to point out that she was much younger than Juliet when she married her father. When Juliet doesn't see eye to eye with her mom, her father steps in and tries to convince Juliet to marry Paris.
When he needed to stay by her the most he gave up instead. Lord Capulet is the father of Juliet and a big part of the continuous feud between his family and the Montague’s. He was blind to the love in his beloved daughters heart for their enemy, Romeo. Instead of realizing the love that Juliet felt for another man he was forcing her to marry Paris, a perfect stranger. “But fettle your fine joint ‘gainst Thursday next to go with Paris to saint Peter’s church, or I will drag thee on a humble thither.”
“Talk not to me, for I 'll not speak a word, Do as tho wilt, for I have dine with thee.” This is a very uncannying way to act for a responsible parent, but a perfect description of a mother not being and giving her support to her daughter and being an irresponsible parent. Juliet 's father is not any better and threatens his own daughter for not appreciating what he had done for her even without hearing her reason for not being “proud” but “thankful” (Doc C, scene5). He says to her “Or I will drag thee on a hurdle thither. Out, you green sickness, carrion!
Juliet and Melinda similarly suffer from this emotional neglect because their parents don’t find the time to listen to them. Lord Capulet and Mrs.Sordino just care about what they want and never what their children want. Lord Capulet is under the impression that Juliet is just trying to be unruly since she didn’t listen to his demands. He thinks she is being ungrateful but she just doesn't want to marry someone she doesn’t love. This situation makes Juliet ignore her father’s wishes and emotions because he never listens to her.
Lord Capulet was one of the individuals that contributed to the termination of Romeo and Juliet’s lives. Being irate, Lord Capulet forces Juliet into a dilemma by saying, “But fettle [her] fine joints ‘gainst Thursday next/ to go with Paris to Saint Peter’s Church, or [he] will drag thee on a hurdle thither.” (III.v.154-156). Juliet characterizes as a loyal and obedient daughter, she always wants to please her parents whenever she can. This puts tons of pressure on Juliet’s decision.
Thus keeping their son alive. Romeo's parents almost always seem to know what to do. Thus showing that they thought through these situations thoroughly. Juliet's parents, on the other hand, haven't had any of their children live long enough to know what to do when someone wants to marry one of them. However, who is to blame for their tragic demise? The parents who made the two lovers feel like outcasts must be to blame. The Capulets forced Juliet to marry Paris, the constant fighting made them want to keep the marriage secret, and made Romeo and Juliet to scared to say anything.

Juliet goes to Friar Laurence for a solution, so she will not have to marry Paris; his idea is to make her appear dead. She accepts the plan and drinks the poison that Friar gives her. The problem appears when Romeo finds Juliet in a deep sleep.

Both Montagues and Capulets' love for their children was overshadowed by their failure to understand their children's feelings and it created distance between parent and child. As result, both Romeo and Juliet never felt safe sharing their dear secrets with their parents, without parental guidance two lost star-crossed lovers Romeo and Juliet made many unintended wrong judgments until their very last decision to end their lives tragically.
Romeo and Juliet is a well-known play written by William Shakespeare. Even though it is famous for being a love story, Shakespeare demonstrates that rebellion is closely tied together either it through the characters: Juliet, Romeo and Tybalt. By defying their families, authority and society's expectations, they set in motion the events in this tragedy. Romeo’s rebellion against society's expectations and his own family, the Montagues, is because of his love. His love of Rosaline is his first demonstration of defiance.
Lord capulet and Juliet had a unpleasant and unhealthy father daughter relationship. The story starts off with Lord Capulet as a good father however that is incorrect. He had a threatening argument with Juliet before she died. He threatened that if she did not marry Paris she will be thrown to starve in the streets. His stubbornness and selfishness overcomes the love he has towards Juliet.
