Author Fiona Guy said, ”family annihilators are a term used to describe someone who murders their entire family.” There are a couple of different scenarios that could lead to this, such as long-term chaos in a house, history of domestic violence, and even concerns about cheating on a spouse or partner. Most family annihilators usually take their own life after killing their family, but that's what makes Chris watt’s case different. From Chris not taking his life after the murders leaves to believe he could get away with it. Something else that is different with Watt’s case is, he had no history of domestic violence. What did happen though, was the confrontation from his spouse. Chris Watts was born May 16, 1985 in Fayetteville North Carolina …show more content…
Chris carries Shan'ann to his truck while covering her in a blanket. He then backs the truck up, which is caught on surveillance video, and drives about 40 miles to the oil site where he worked. After dumping Shan’anns body in the dirt, he grabs Celeste's favorite blanket and proceeds to smother her to death. As Chris took her body out of the truck, Bella unbuckled herself. According to Gian Tron, Bella asked Chris not to kill her, “Daddy please don’t do to me what you just did to Cece.”(2019 Para. 13) Weld County District Attorney Michael Rourke revealed how Bellas little body fought back when Chris refused to look up. “The connective tissue between her upper lip and her gum had a centimeter and a half laceration," he explained. "She bit her tongue multiple times before she died.” As her father suffocated her, she struggled to save her life. Chris took his innocent little girls and put their bodies in the oil tank then buried his pregnant wife’s body in the ground a few feet away which was confessed by Chris in …show more content…
During this test he couldn't control his breathing and you could tell from watching the tape that he was lying to all the questions that the lady was asking. After confessing to officials that he had murdered his wife, he decides to lie and tell them the reason for murdering Shan’ann was due to her smothering their daughters. The next day the three bodies were found at the oil site where Chris worked. That same day there was a bond hearing that Chris appeared at in Weld County which he was denied. On November 6, 2018 Chris Watts pleaded guilty to all nine criminal counts. Three counts of first-degree murder and an additional two first-degree charges for victims being 12 or younger. To add to that he faces another count for the unlawful termination of a pregnancy, also three counts of tampering with a body. Shan’anns family gave a request that the death penalty shouldnt be
She was able to escape and phone a neighbor which led to his arrest after being caught a little while later. The girl that was friends of Katy Harris survived and madea full recovery and was able to give a full description of the killer and identified him as Tommy Lynn Sells and he was then incarcerated and sent to jail in Texas when he was later then given the death penalty after being tried. Tommy Lynn Sells operated over a span of ten to twenty years killing what people believe to be more than seventy people but evidence can not prove this. Tommy was given the death penalty by Texas and was put to an end in 2014 once the system was able to get information and confessions out of him and once all the convictions and processing was done. Tommy was ended by lethal injection.
The first emergency worker to arrive saw no traces of blood on the wife, showing she never touched, or attempted to help or console her bleeding husband who had just been shot. She told Chris about her son and asked if he could help her son get back to normal as he’d done with many different veterans time and time again. Kyle agreed to it and when Chris and Chad Littlefield picked up Eddie Ray Routh, they both knew something was not right about the man. While they were driving to the range they were going to shoot at with Routh for a “Veteran Therapy” as all that attended called it, Kyle sent a text to Chad Littlefield who was in the passenger seat that read, “This dude is straight nuts!” Chad responded, “I know, he’s right behind me, watch my six!”. As they got to the range they had to go on a side road for a few miles to get to where they were going to
He allowed Lagos manipulation to falsely dictate his wife's loyalty, which led to him killing his beautiful bride then ultimately himself. Chris Kyles fatal flaw was his overwhelming love for the United States. Even after four Iraq tours Chris choose to work with troubled and potentially dangerous
Policemen and other first responders were tasked with handing out flyers informing the area where the individual’s lived of the situation, as well as investigating by talking to members of the community (“Watch American Murderer”). This also consisted of taking Chris in for questioning. During his multiple visits to the interrogation room, Chris was asked to take a polygraph test, where he was asked questions about his relationship with Shannan, as well as questions about the disappearance of his wife and kids (“Watch American Murderer”). Once the results of the test came back, it was evident that Chris had failed. He was then prompted to confess to his crimes, in which he was denied at first.

Him having a rough childhood, possibly affected his decision by going into the wilderness the way he did. Mr. McCandless, Chris’ father, was a very aggressive man. He beat Chris’ mom a lot. It hurt Chris and his little sister very much, but they couldn’t do anything about it. Chris’ father, beating Chris’ mother put a lot of anger into Chris’
There is a lot of controversy about the death of Chris Mcanddles and whether he was justified or not in leaving his family behind without saying anything or telling anyone where he was going, so many are wondering if he was justified or not. I believe Chris was justified for several reasons. We learn about Chris’s rocky, unstable relationship with his parents. In the book, it says on p. 6 that "he hadn't spoken to his family in nearly two years. " This shows that something major happened between Chris and his parents because any normal person would've maintained contact with their parents even if they moved out of the house; most would at least have a phone number.
Watts met his wife Shan’ann. They got married and had two girls. Shan’ann was 15-weeks pregnant at the time and they were expecting a little boy. Life seemed pretty normal according to Facebook posts and text messages that were displayed in the Netflix documentary, American Murder: The Family Next Door. These posts and messages gave the audience glimpses of Watts with his wife and kids, and nothing but smiles and laughter was shown, but on August 13, 2018, the truth came out about what a happy family really
Chip Brown questions whether Chris really did everything in his power to stay alive or whether he did not want any help from society. Brown thinks we should care about this because he believes too many people are giving too much credit to Chris just because he died. Chip Brown gave some really strong claims in his story and raised many questions from John Krakauer’s assessment in Into the
They were found on an oil storage site once Chris started to reveal more details. At first it was hard to locate them, but then Shannon was found. She was buried in a shallow grave right off the site. The children were harder to locate because they couldn’t be physically seen by police. After a thorough investigation of this site, the 2 daughters' bodies were found in the oil tanks.
"I think that Chris McCandless was bright and ignorant at the same time. He had no common sense, and he had no business going to Alaska with his Romantic silliness. He made a lot of mistakes based on ignorance. I don’t admire him at all for his courage nor his noble ideas. Really, I think he was just plain crazy."
Many people may believe that Chris was dramatic in regards to abandoning his family; however, he was in reality treated very poorly: “On the days we did not pick up signals of slamming doors and elevated voices fast enough, Chris and I were damned to bear the brunt of our parents’ latest battle” (The Wild Truth). Both Carine and Chris beared the burden of having to listen to their parents’ abusive fights. More specifically, Billie McCandless even deemed Chris a scapegoat, blaming the abuse she endured on him: “ ‘I’m sorry, kids, but when I got pregnant with Chris, I got stuck with your father’”(The Wild Truth). Not only did Chris have to live through this abuse, but he had to live with this false guilt that he was the reason for this abuse. Clearly, the McCandless home did not possess very nurturing or supportive qualities, but rather proved to be quite dangerous.
