In conclusion, Odysseus is a hero because of his many great qualities. While he has bad qualities additionally, the things he does in order to save his crew show valor, nobleness, and strength.
Hercules was the strongest mortal. Even stronger than many gods. But, his lack of intelligence definitely had a big impact on hercules reputation. Hercules was also emotionally unstable. “Once, when the temperature was very high, he pulled his bow out and threatened to shoot at the sun.” ( “ Greekmythology.com” 1).
Achilles is superior to many others because, he serves as the Greek army 's best warrior. The Trojans are frightened by the strength that Achilles puts forth, that even his war gear makes them want to run away from him in terror. He shows his strength, as he is capable to conquer the power of Hector and defeat him. Achilles is invincible, unlike Hector, as shown when Homer states, “Achilles’ invincible arms-”(20.569) Achilles has a reputation as a power warrior, as shown throughout The Iliad. The face of death doesn’t stop his courage from shining through.
Heracles, better known as Hercules, is an ancient hero in Greek mythology. He is the son of Zeus and Alcmene, and the descendant of Perseus. He was born a mortal and was later a god after his death. Despite not being a god at first, Hercules was the strongest of all living mortals. He was not born a god because his mother was a mortal princess.
In many people’s opinion, Odysseus is a terrific hero because of his determination and how strong and brave of a leader he was. Indeed, Odysseus is a hero because he is a brave leader. An example of Odysseus being brave is when he reached Ithaca and defeated the suitors. This shows how a hero should put themselves first before their people in dangerous situations. Usually, epic heroes share common character traits such as braveness, courage, and leadership. In Homer’s Odyssey, it is my belief that Odysseus is a hero because he demonstrated leadership qualities by leading his group to fight the suitors by being disguised as a beggar so that nobody would suspect him as being Odysseus. For example he fought the suitors, the three headed monsters, and a giant. Some people might say that he did not exhibit loyalty because he stayed on the island with Calypso for so long. However Zeus forced Calypso to let him leave and he returned to Ithaca and his wife which shows loyalty.
Hercules, the great hero and the son of the god of the sky Zeus, is one of the most famous and popular of all the Greek heroes("Zeus"). Hercules was well known for his strength, courage, bravery, and his upstanding personality. Hercules, like most heroes, has a god as his father who was the supreme god Zeus and a mortal mother named Alcmene. Hercules father Zeus was not loyal at all to his wife and cheated on her multiple times with mortal women. This made his wife Hera very mad and jealous, so when she found out that Zeus had an affair with another woman and had a son with Alcmene, she was very angry and sent poisonous snakes into baby Hercules crib.
Superman also has limitless speed, nigh-invulnerability, heat vision, flight, and freeze-breath to defeat all of his foes. Superman is a hero because of the multiple lives he has saved. Odysseus is only a hero because, according to Homer, he was loyal, compassionate, and cunning. Superman was all those except he saved multiple lives while expressing those traits. Some may say Odysseus is the ideal hero.
Usually when you think about the word hero you think about superheros, superheros who are seen in movies and comics. Usually it is a strong man who symbolises this, for example Hercules. He was son of Zeus and had inhuman strength and razor-sharp knowledge. He punished people who were evil and this made him a hero, the stereotypical hero which is a strong man with inhuman powers. But a hero doesn’t need to follow these stereotypical standards.
He showed traits of unending strength as he faced many trials along the way. Facing death was also among his many trials, but he carried on anyway. He was a strong-willed man and that alone is a life lesson one can learn from. Although Fredrick Douglass portrayed many character traits, bitterness was not one of them. Douglass had many opportunities to be utterly bitter as he faced many struggles.
