Heroes separate themselves from the rest because they don’t allow struggle to stop them from achieving great things” (111). This description is easily relatable to everyday life, in saying that no matter how hard life gets, we should never let the fear of our obstacles
As Ralph Emerson said, “Nothing can bring you peace but yourself. Nothing can bring you peace but the triumph of principles” (last sentence of book). Remaining true to himself, McCandless was able to achieve what he considered to be meaningful in life. From the start of his journey, it is seen that being true to oneself is challenging, as others are living in a world that demands them to alter their identity. However, one must stay true and authentic and understand the desires and needs, in order to attain an adequate living, just like Chris McCandless.
When one person feels genuine emotion, the rest of the community falters. The website states that, “The key ingredient to stability that the novel implies is that individuality must be absent.” The government in Brave New World understands that fact that, "[there is] no civilization without social stability. No social stability without individual stability" (Huxley, 42). In order for the World State to survive and be at its best, there needs to be no chaos.
Truthful in the way where they never lie and are able to also point out their flaws. Never lying to one since they are an enemy and they tend to be against someone in certain situations, so there is no reason for one to lie to the other. In that way someone who has an enemy obtains a friend too. Also, an enemy who is always there. Since an enemy is a friend they tend to always be around them and so they are able to see everything that goes on with them.
For me his story is very reach in great lessons for life: first of all, it teaches us that if we have the will to change no one and no situation can stop us: neither poverty nor prison nor color nor belonging can inhibit us to reach our goals. Second we have to be faithful in our capacity and our power. Also it shows how education is the door of the development and prosperity. It is the arm that protect us from the domination and oppression. All these factor are the key component that lead to the triumph and victory toward tyrannies.
Ralph Waldo Emerson, a renowned transcendentalist, shared many universal truths during the period of Transcendentalism, which further advocated the ideals of the period. This maxim in particular expresses that your own identity and perspective of the world is what is most important in the end. Emerson states that nothing is as important as you, regarding the path you choose and the ideals you create for yourself. In other words, Emerson encourages people to not succumb to society's expectations of who a person should be, but instead live a lifestyle you desire to live.
Than he continues to go on and say “ don't live o fast troubles will come and pass”. That really goes with what it's about to be a transcendentalist. Everyone has their own problems so of course things are going to go wrong but don't let that stop you from being you everything in the end will work itself out no no matter how hard it gets. Lynyrd just like many other transcendentalist believe the simple life is the best life you will be much happier than being
Because of the alchemist telling him this, he knows his Personal Legend and continues to work for it. Out of the many challenges people face in life, some still just give up instead of persevering. The Alchemist, however, shows that people should never give up, but instead fight through bad situations to complete their goals. Others may think we are just suffering when we persevere, but “no heart has ever suffered when it goes in search of its dreams, because every second of the search is a second’s encounter with God and with eternity” (Coelho 134).
Wisdom, Walden, and Withdrawal “...if one advances confidently in the direction of his dreams, and endeavors to live the life which he has imagined, he will meet with a success unexpected in common hours,”( Thoreau 625). Henry David Thoreau shares his journey and experiences throughout Walden. Thoreau speaks greatly about the elements of self reliance and achieving goals. Several of Thoreau's lessons are still relevant in today's society, two of his fundamental ideas are that wisdom does not come from education and that loneliness is not the same thing as being alone.
It’s all about connecting with yourself within and knowing who you are. You have to be honest with yourself and know exactly who you are before you can live a good life. Meyers points out that its important to know who you truly are just based on personal reasons and for important cases like “moral and political autonomy”. What I took away from this quote was don’t get caught up in someone else’s group and remain silent but to tap into your true being and flourish. 2.
There is not one person in this world that doesn’t have their obstacles and disadvantages. It is what you do with them that helps you grow as an individual. I believe that obstacles can be turned into something good because they are all just challenges to be overcame. We are used to hearing that we must be strong and never have obstructions, yet I’ve come to surmise that it is in fact all the hardships you go through that make you stronger.
Author Ralph Waldo Emerson wrote, "Unless you try to do something beyond what you have already mastered, you will never grow." Based on my experiences, I agree with Emerson's statement. If you have mastered a task, what is the point of sticking to a pattern? I believe that unless you try to do something beyond what you have already mastered, you will never grow because you have to go outside of your comfort zone to learn new things and keep yourself excited, becoming stagnant will bore and frustrate you, and you can discover new talents and abilities by going beyond what you are used to. My first reason for agreeing with Emerson's statement is that you have to go outside of your comfort zone to learn new things.
