Lizzie Borden Took an Ax Many people have heard the popular rhyme,“ Lizzie Borden took an ax and gave her mother 40 whacks; and when she saw what she had done she gave her father 41.” Lizzie Borden's murder case has been a mystery since 1892. She was arrested and tried for the axe murders. Borden was acquitted in 1893 and continued to live in Fall River until her death, on June 1, 1927. The case was never solved. In the controversial court case of Lizzie Borden the innocent verdict correctly acquitted the suspect because she is did not posses the physical and mental ability to kill her parents, there are many other suspicious suspects that did not get attention, and they had no hard physical evidence that led Lizzie to the murders.

Lizzie’s Uncle had made a surprise visit the night before the murders happened. The girl’s Uncle John had arrived the day before for an unannounced visit. John Vinnicum Morse,was the brother of Andrew Borden’s first wife, John showed up on a random visit the night before the murders and stayed the night in the Borden house (Taylor). John was the brother of Andrews first wife, who passed away, John was questioned but never followed up with. The Borden maid was an illegal immigrant from Ireland and apparently had a dark past."She did not stay in the house during the night following the murders, but did come back on Friday night to her third-floor room. On Saturday, she left the house, never to return” (Taylor). Bridget had been in the Borden home since 1889 but the girls still called her the wrong name, the girls liked Bridget or Maggie as they called her but ever payed much attention to her. People say that Andrew was very harsh, many people thought it was suspicious that she left Saturday and never returned. Andrew Borden rented out many of his properties to people. The two sisters helped to manage the rental properties owned by Andrew Borden ( Linder). Andrew Borden was very strict about rent payments.If he did not get the money the day rent was due, he would kick the people staying in the house out. When the search first started the authorities checked Lizzie’s hands and clothes and found no blood or evidence. “Blood was still seeping from the wounds and had been splashed onto the wall above the sofa, the floor and on a picture hanging on the wall”(Taylor). This proves that there is no way that the blood wouldn't have gotten on the killer, they checked Lizzie when they arrived to the scene since she was the only one at the house at the time and she had to blood on her. The suspected murder weapon had no trace of blood on or around it. Lizzie’s representative said, there is not a spot of blood, there is not a weapon that they have connected with her in any way, shape or fashion. They did not find any blood or evidence on the suspected murder weapon. The authorities weren't even 100% sure that it was the actual murder weapon. They had no proof that the Ax was the Murder weapon. Lizzie’s defendant said, there is not one particle of direct evidence in this case from beginning to end against Lizzie A. Borden (Linder). There is not a spot of blood, there is not a weapon that they have connected with her in any way, shape or fashion.They had no proof that lead the suspected murder weapon to Lizzie.
