Who is to blame for Romeo and Juliet’s Death? In the devastating romance, Romeo and Juliet shows an illustration of how young love is able to cause destruction, not only in their lives but also the people’s lives around them. It also shows how other actor’s thoughts affected the people close to them, but the main question is, who is responsible for the tragedy of Romeo and Juliet? The death of Romeo and Juliet was not their fault but Friar Lawrence's. Friar is to blame, not only for one action that contributed to their death, but for three actions.

There are several people who could be to blame for the death of Romeo and Juliet's, but who is completely responsible for their death? I believe Friar Lawrence is the one who is responsible for both of their deaths. The Friar did many things he shouldn't have done in the first place. Friar Lawrence knew to which family Romeo and Juliet belonged to. But, he still married them knowing the consequences that could bring.

“And this distilled liquor drink thou off; When presently through all thy veins shall run. A cold and drowsy humor, for no pulse,” (S.S, pg. 453). Friar Lawrence quoted that he would help Juliet fake her death. This is why Friar Lawrence is the one to blame for causing the most trouble in Romeo and Juliet. Yes, there are many other characters in the story to blame, but Friar Lawrence helped with a series of events that led to Juliet's death.

Have you ever thought “who’s fault is it really in Romeo and Juliet?” I think it is the Friar Lawrence, he’s most responsible because even though Romeo and Juliet came up with the idea marriage, the friar was the one who followed through with their idea. So first, he let them and married them. Second, he arranged Juliet’s fake death. Third he didn’t get the note to Romeo fast enough.

At the beginning of Romeo and Juliet, the Friar Lawrence appears to be very intelligent and wise with his soliloquy over the possibilities of flowers,“Within the infant rind of this weak flower/Poison hath residence and medicine power;/For this, being smelt, with that part cheers each part;/Being tasted, stays all senses with the heart” (2.3.23-26); however, as the play progresses, the audience begins to see how foolish the friar can truly be. That man was Friar Lawrence, and he failed. If the Friar would have changed his part in marrying Romeo to Juliet, his plan to save the day, or even his last desperate attempt to convince Juliet to come with him The first time Friar Lawrence blew his chance to save Romeo and Juliet was when he agreed to marry them.

The Friar married the couple hoping for a good outcome but it came out in death and it was at fault of the Friar. The Friar had good intentions by helping Romeo and Juliet by getting married.

A few decisions that Friar Lawrence had made to cause Romeo and Juliet's death was because he agreed to marry them, giving the potion to Juliet, and gave the letter meant to be sent to be Roneo to Friar John. If anyone is to blame in "Romeo and Juliet" as a conduit to the tragic demise of Romeo and Juliet, Friar Lawrence is that character. The person who is at fault for the deaths of Romeo and Juliet is Friar Lawrence.

At the start of the play, Friar Laurence decides to marry Romeo and Juliet.

An example of this impulsive behavior is when Friar Laurence encouraged this wedding without putting any thoughts into the outcomes. Romeo came to him saying he wanted to wed Juliet, a Capulet that he had met only hours ago, and Friar Laurence agreed to marrying them in secret the same day. Not only was this action impulsive, but it was also selfish. He says “So smile the heavens upon this holy act, That after hours with sorrow chide us not!” (II, vi, 1-2).
