Romeo, Juliet and the End of Love Who is to blame for the deaths of Romeo and Juliet? Is the tragedy caused by a person or fate? Or maybe even love? Many claim that love builds unity and affection, but when taken to the extreme, like what Romeo did, it tends to end in tragedy and sadness. This is evidently demonstrated in Shakespeare's play Romeo and Juliet. While there is not just one person at fault for their deaths, Romeo is the most at fault for their deaths. Before Romeo goes to the party he said he had a premonition that something horrible is going to happen and even said "But tis no wit to go" (R+J 1.4 47). This quote is saying that it's not a good idea to go. But still, he chose to go to the party. Their deaths could have been avoided if he listened to himself. …show more content…
But the death of Romeo's friend was because he got in the way of their fight. So, Romeo decided to kill Tybalt to avenge his friend's death: "Is but a little way above our heads, staying for thine to keep company. Either thou, or I, or both must go with him" (3.1 128-130). Romeo killed Tybalt because Tybalt killed his friend. When Romeo killed Tybalt he ended up getting banished and sent away from Juliet. Their deaths could have been avoided if he calmed down instead of killing Juliet's cousin. To make matters worse, he decided to kill himself! He loved Juliet so much he couldn't think straight after she "died" and committed suicide. Romeo killed himself "thy drugs are quick. Thus with a kiss I die" (5.3 120). If Romeo decided to get more information or talk to Friar he would have realized that Juliet didn't actually die. Juliet was heartbroken and took her own life, because Romeo took his life. Romeo made a poor choice by believing that Juliet died without figuring anything out for
Before Juliet had woken up after she had taken the potion, Romeo arrived in shock that his lover had done such a thing. As a result, he took his life because he thought Juliet had done the same. Little did he know Juliet was not actually dead. Friar Lawrence was also on the way to find Juliet. If Friar would have arrived a second sooner, he could have talked to Romeo and told him that she was not dead and she was to wake up soon.
In Romeo and Juliet the play, one might ask their self “Who’s fault would it be when Romeo and Juliet pass away?”. Some may say that it is fate since fate was against them since the beginning. Or some may blame Lord and Lady Capulet when they forced to marry Juliet to Paris, and Lady Capulet says “Speak briefly, can you like of Paris’ love?” (DBQ project: Who’s to Blame? Document B).
In “Romeo and Juliet” the ones to blame for Romeo and Juliet’s death are themselves. Romeo is responsible for Juliet and his death. Because of Romeo’s rage of killing Tybalt he was banished from the town and was made to live far away from Juliet, causing her grief. Juliet’s grief ends up killing her, because she threatens to kill herself if Friar Lawrence doesn’t help her make a plan to get back with Romeo. The plan ends up messing up, and both Romeo and Juliet die.

In the story Romeo and Juliet, I don't think anyone is to blame because Nobody planned on Mercutio dying, when the fight happened and for Romeo and Juliet's death. Nobody could have caused all this so i think fate played a huge role in this play. Fate also played a part when Mercutio told Romeo to go to the party Fate was the reason for everything nothing was planned.
His reaction to Juliet’s need for help gave him immediate relief, but not long-term comfort. Friar says to Juliet, “No warmth, no breath, shall testify thou livest;/ The roses in thy lips and cheeks shall fade/ To paly ashes, thy eyes’ windows fall” (4.1 9100). When Friar explains to Juliet that she will look dead, he doesn’t expect that it will lead to Romeo committing suicide.
