The story of Who Moved My Cheese was created by Spencer Johnson to help him deal with a difficult change in his life. It made him realize how to take his changing situation seriously but not take himself so seriously. People have reported that what they discovered in the story has improved their careers, businesses, health and marriages. The reflection of the story is helpful for individuals living in homes, companies, school, churches, and the military and sports team.
Any sudden change in life can be a tremendously upsetting event, disturbing the comfort of the status quo. What will happen if you lose someone or a sudden unrealistic adjustment takes place in life? The story begins with the reunion of high school friends in Chicago after their high school reunion. They look back on the divergent paths their lives have taken and take analyze the fact that they often don’t want to change when things change. One of them then uses the time to relate the parable of Who Moved My Cheese to the others. The four characters are two mice named Sniff and Scurry and two people named Hem and Haw. All of them live in a maze and spend their days scurrying about in the eternal hunt of cheese; however each of the four has his own distinctive approach to this cheese hunt. Sniff is extremely good at sniffing, while Scurry specializes in scurrying after newly discovered cheese. The other characters Hem and Haw are not so proactive in their cheese pursuit and they squander more time in thinking about the cheese hunt. One day the four stumble onto a piece of cheese so large that Hem and Haw declare that they shall never again need to search for cheese. They become habituated to
