Louis riel, Canada’s famous politician, the founder of Manitoba, the leader of the Metis. However, he was punished and put to death after leading the North West Rebellion with the charge of traitor. Though some might think he is a traitor, disturbed the society. But some like me think he is a hero, who claimed legal rights for the metis.
During his life, he leaded two rebellions against Canada’s first prime minister Sir John A. Macdonald which. They were the Red river (1869) and the North West Rebellions (1885). His move was to claim that the Metis has the rights as others. As Manitoba was recovered by the Canadian government, lots of the white move in. The Metis without their rights were forced to move into Saskatchewan. With the harming of environment, buffaloes gradually died out, as they were the life source for the Metis. The Metis had told the government what they were facing but sadly the government’s play for time leads the rebellions. Louis’s leading changed the fate of the Metis as after Louis’s death, the Canadian Government started a development for the Metis’ land. …show more content…

He was seen as the chaotic maker, madcap and terrorist. The rebellion even leads a military conflict, as his leading of the rebellion produced death and disturbed public’s order.
No matter what Louis riel had done and what he is seen as a hero or a traitor. He is absolutely the most complex, the most dispute, the most pathos but an important person in the Canadian
