The tragedy of Romeo and Juliet was written by William Shakespeare, the play was written to educate young lovers along with parents, but with a lot of dramatic irony. Act 5 Scene 3 is a prime example because Romeo takes his own life after seeing Juliet dead, only for her to wake up an hour later and kill herself right after. Who was to blame in the tragedy of Romeo and Juliet? One person who could be a potential blame is Romeo, because of what he did, another person it could have been is Friar Lawrence, but I believe one of the …show more content…

Another one of the main culprits could have been Romeo, who was completely riddled with love, wasn't thinking about any of the consequences of his actions. To go into more detail, Romeo was only going for Juliet and he didnt care for any of the things stopping him, one example is the garden wall that he scaled to attempt to talk to Juliet, because he simply couldnt get away from her, Another example is when Romeo tried to walk through town whilst hanging out with Mercutio, when they cross Tybalt, who has temper problems and after he insults them, Mercutio jumps into a brawl blindly and is slain. Finally, Friar Lawrence could have been the main culprit, because he didn't alert Romeo well enough of what he had done. To further elaborate, the Friar had given Juliet poison to put her to sleep for some 50 hours, but he didn't communicate with Romeo well enough, which could have completely translated to what came of their relationship. So as Romeo gets away from Balthasar, he goes to the graveyard and finds Juliet who is buried, he digs her up and sees her, and after that he goes to drink a poison of his own, which kills him, has a domino effect and kills a couple others. “Here’s to my love. Drinking. O true apothecary, Thy drugs are quick. Thus with a kiss I die.” (5.2.134-137) This quote shows that he died drinking the poison because Juliet, who appears dead, is just sleeping because of the Friars
