The Main Purpose of the Bill of Rights is to guarantee certain freedoms and rights to American
I believe freedom of speech should not be limited. Nowhere in the constitution does it give the government the right to limit our freedoms ,that act is truly unconstitutional. If we let them limit our freedoms then that gives them the power to limit little by little until it 's eventually all gone. The people should not be suppressed they should be allowed to put forth their opinions and speak against anything they feel isn 't right. the constitution states that you can say whatever you want as long as it does not include anything profine, or violent.
Being born free in America is nothing, but does not sound like the truth. America is known as a symbol of freedom though how much freedom does people really have? People in America need to take serious risks in order to earn their freedom that they want. Though when people try to express their freedom they get locked away by the government. No one ever can be free unless they fight for what they believe in.
Therefore it is because of that that I support the colonies decision to be independent. Some people may be against the colonies independence because in order to be independent a war has to occur which means lives would be lost. Yet, I believe that either way lives are in danger of being lost whether the colonies seek independence or not because the colonies lack of protection will lead to lives lost. Therefore it is important for the colonies to seek independence.
The First Amendment to the United States Constitution states “Congress shall make no law…abridging the freedom of speech”. Some people in today’s time would argue the first amendment is one of the most important listed in the Bill of Rights. Many forms of speech are protected by the first amendment that one wouldn’t think would be such as flag burning and “adult videos”. Over the years there have been many different court cases that have debated and fought the forms of speech that are protected. Many people in society treat speech differently and this is given in the United States because there are such diverse groups throughout the nation.
The first amendment may seem like something that is generally understood among all of those who use it, but this may not be the case. While most citizens of the United States of America would certainly say that they understand and can comprehend what the first amendment means, an underlying lack of knowledge, upon what is presumed to be the most important of all the amendments, can still be discovered. “Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press, or the right of the people to peaceably assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.” The specific piece of the first amendment that is particularly important
Freedom of speech refers to the right to express your own views. In United States of America (USA), people believe that freedom of speech is a form of basic human rights which should not be limited or taken away by the government. Thus, in the eyes of the law, Americans are allowed to condemn the government, protest and express views freely. Singapore on the other hand, is extremely different. The right to freedom of speech is restricted, including freedom of speech involving race and religion.

In this argumentative essay, I’ll discuss why freedom of speech is important, but it’s not the only important right that we have. Yes, freedom of speech should be absolute, but weshould not give anyone the chance to define reasonable restrictions.
Law and order is one of the characteristics of first world countries. With that said, following these laws might not always be the right or just thing to do. In Plato’s Crito Socrates had a very rigid view of following the laws and never breaking them, even though the law unjustly put him in jail. I believe having this rigid belief on the laws is wrong, and the belief should be more towards following just laws and standing up for unjust ones. On the other hand, people might argue, if some people stop obeying the law in the name of justice, others will stop following them completely.
The people are giving up some of their right so the government will protect them. The first amendment is “freedom of speech, religion, press, assembly and petition” The first amendment is similar to the social contract because in a way the government is promising to protect you in exchange for some of your rights.
The quote then said “The right to think is the beginning of freedom, and speech must be protected from the government because speech is the beginning of thought.” I don’t think we can have a right to think and not have speech. An example is like us speaking, and not being able to be heard. I can and can’t see eye to eye with this quote because i don’t believe the government should make community decisions without a say from the community. They made rights for a reason, so us as a community can speak as a group, together.
The constitution is still important today because without it, what would become of our government? It’s relevant because people still believe we have to obey by it. People believe in their rights as an American and without the Constitution, American’s rights would not be protected and the government wouldn’t be able to function. Although there is quite the debate on the constitution. Some believe that it is outdated and that we shouldn’t have to follow it and others believe that it is apart of our history and
Board of education in 1954, focusing on the equal protection clause. Citizens depend on the constitution to make them feel safe and protected, but like Zinn said, “we risk our lives and liberties when we depend on that document to defend them. This is a bad idea that our democracy governs like this. One key fact that Zinn puts out is that the “1st amendment does not determine what we have a right to say and what we want, but it depends on if were courageous enough to speak up the risk of being jailed or fired”. People should not have to worry about losing their lives just because of the simple fact that they are standing up for their rights.
Some might ask why is the constitution important to the United States? The United States relies on the constitution for a base. The constitution is what freed us from Great Britain. Where would our country be today if our founding fathers didn't create the constitution and didn't make this country freedom of speech and religion. How the constitution started, why it was created, and what it effects in today's society.
