There have been many times when the court has made different rulings on the same court case causing confusion. People argue that taking away these guns from normal abiding citizens does not stop criminals from obtaining these weapons. (Zimring 441) Nobody knows if this is true or not, but it is a legitimate argument for those who want the ability to own guns. They also argue that criminals would be less likely to commit a crime if they know that the victim is armed.
What many people do not understand is that gun control laws do not necessarily mean making guns illegal and banned from the possession of all citizens. If the laws in place now were followed and enforced the way that they were intended to be, then a stricter policy would not have been needed. By educating gun owners on how to safely use their weapons, many of the casualties coming from guns can be eliminated. If the appropriate steps are taken and we follow the laws meant to protect us, then certain bans and restrictions will not be necessary, and the number of gun homicides in our country would drastically
According to the Lancet, there have been 464,033 total gun deaths between 1999 and 2013, (270,237 suicides, 174,773 homicides, and 9,983 unintentional deaths.) These gun death totals have increased in the last four years, and many are suicides. More gun control laws could make it so anyone couldn 't own a gun without special permission and special rules. So this would lead to fewer suicides plus if anybody could own a gun or have a gun on them at all times people can get threatened or scared if they were to see a concealed gun. What would anybody think if you saw a stranger having a gun on them because you don 't often see people with them, they may think it 's going to be a mass murderer or something similar.
In the year 2014 much debate began on gun laws and whether they should be authorized. This political fight became a disputable issue among Americans. A source at the Smithsonian said, “More Americans thought it was important to protect the right of Americans to own guns than to control gun ownership.” Most Americans believe that their gun ownership is unrelated to someone else 's gun use in crimes. Many people want strict gun control but that won 't help because mass shooters don 't follow the law; strict gun laws won 't reduce violence and the removal of guns would leave people defenseless, especially in a time where terrorism is rampant.
Gun laws should not be in place because guns are essential for people’s safety, guns prevent mass shootings and terrorism, and banning guns goes against the second amendment. Many people that are pro-gun control want laws because of the fear of robbery or home invasion when in reality if a burglar knows that there is a gun in the house they are targeting, chances are they will not try to rob or invade the home. In Switzerland where crime and homicide rates are some of the lowest in the world, there is a gun in nearly every house in the country. Switzerland’s citizens are
Some gun control laws should be removed because gun control laws don't make you feel safer, they will prevent you from defending yourself and your family, and they don't stop criminals from obtaining guns or using them. Gun control laws say you can’t have a gun that doesn’t make you feel any safer at all because anyone could obtain it. They prevent you from defending yourself, so if you need to save yourself you can’t because you probably don’t have a gun. Lastly, any criminal could steal a gun and use it despite the gun control laws. Overall some gun control laws should be removed because most of them don’t really help at all.
People think that outlawing guns will lead to an ideally safe society. This idea of a gun-free utopia is absolutely false, as criminals will still gain access to them. Although it is true that the majority of guns used in crimes are stolen ones (Blow), there is no way to stop this from happening. Guns will always be part of society, whether people like it or not, and it is better to have an armed protected society than a defenseless unprotected one.
The Second Amendment protects the right of people to keep and bear arms. This amendment was a controversial among different people in the government. It was between letting the people keep their weapons or to not let the people keep their weapons. This amendment was important to the framers of the Constitution because it provided the country with a well-regulated militia. The Second Amendment states "A well-regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a Free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.
If gun control was to be put into place by the government then it would make the second amendment useless. Another case against gun control is concerning Mexico and their very strict gun laws and process of obtaining a firearm “Mexico 's gun store is on a secure military base and customers must present a valid ID, go through a metal detector, and turn over cell phones and cameras to guards. To actually buy a gun, customers have to show proof of honest income, provide references, pass a criminal background check, prove any military duties were completed with honor, and be fingerprinted and photographed” according to Gun Control Pro Con
Zack Storvick 1st Period 1 January 2018 Gun Rights and Gun Control In the United States there shouldn 't be a ban on firearms. Guns should not be taken away from the people. Anti-gun viewers also have valid points such as the mass shootings in our country, but taking away guns would not solve the issues.
Gun control should not mean taking away the rights of law-abiding citizens and letting criminals destroy and torment our lives. We need to do something about gun-related crimes. In the event that a firearm is being carried citizens must follow the present day laws. Instead of creating new laws and trying to find a new solution to the same problems, strictly enforce the present gun laws. Tennessee should be taking part in the Law Enforcement Officers Safety Act and allowing police to have more rights than citizens.
Given in 2014, there were 52,00 recorded shooting, yet only 1,600 were recorded as self-defense, this leads many people to the idea that self-defense is rarely used (The Truth). Backing [up] that idea up,[is the ______________that] for every criminal killed in self-defense, 34 civilians die(Ingraham). The pro-gun control side also believes concealed carry is not effective [for ________________________] . Concealed carry is when someone is carrying a gun in public, but it is hidden so no one knows. Many are against concealed carry because it would lead to an arms race.
Even though today we are very lax on gun control, saying people such as Catholics can’t obtain guns is ridiculous. There should be a clause in the second amendment that states “No person who has been imprisoned or deemed mentally insane can own a fire arm, and if they are found with one, the necessary methods will be taken to
“According to the NRA, guns are used for self-defense 25 million times a year. (procon.org) Stricter laws make it harder for people to protect their homes and families. Executive vice preisdent of the NRA, stated, “the only thing that stops a bad guy with a gun is a goof guy with a gun” (procon.org). There are many more reasons why there should be less gun control laws, these are only a few. Americans deserve their gun rights.
That it was written for a different place in history. Anti-gun groups feel guns are too easy to purchase. And requirements are not strict enough for ownership. They believe guns should be outlawed except for law enforcement. These groups classify all guns in the same category.
