It irritates me how many athletes are paid for each year. Sure, people like LeBron James, Tom Brady, and Jonathan Toews deserve to be paid $10 to $30 million dollars per year. But other players (average athletes) don’t even deserve to have a single million due to their performances. Just imagine you 're a surgeon. You save dozens of lives in your career and make $187,200 per year. If you compare your “average salary” to a Benchwarmer for the NBA salary ($845,000) it’s about 4 times as your salary. Therefore, a second doesn’t go by thinking about how much athletes are getting paid. People have their own thoughts on athletes getting overpaid. In fact, people still believe that athletes should get paid millions of dollars while other people think they shouldn’t.…show more content…
Also daily herald.com said “Our president earns a yearly salary of $400,000, and he runs our country, while the athletes just provide amusement. Don 't get me wrong, but paying an athlete $13.5 million for a single year is just overpriced.”( Patel, page 1) This means that the people are starting to notice why are athletes are getting paid millions for just for themselves like when they work hard for that title for their city it’s mostly good for themselves because they have a healthy body and they can buy anything they like to choose. Furthermore, Gene Callahan stated that “The bartender defended Rodriguez’s salary, asking, “If someone offered you $25 million, would you turn them down“( Callahan, page 1)? Therefore, this explains how any regular pro sports athlete would never turn down an offer unless they are very strict about
