For student coming from a lower social class they already have the burden of people doubting them and coming from a family who has not done anything and or didn 't have the opportunity to. This proves where you come from should not decide how your life is going to be based on your parents mistakes, disadvantages or income level. Whether your parents are wealthy or you 're certain ethnicity should not matter if you could to pursue your dreams of your dream occupation or going to college. feeling for everyone they should be able to go to college and get the same level of education as any social class. For a low-income or middle-income person who might see tuition drop and hopefully we see community college become free.
“An important pathway to the middle class now runs through higher education, but rising costs are making it harder and harder for ordinary Americans to get the education they want and need” ( Sanders). Many student who’s families can not easily afford the cost of college often do not further their education after high school. Students that know that their family struggles with money already don’t want to ask for more so that they can go to college. As the cost of college has been on the rise many have talked about wanting to provide students with a free college education. Many bring up that the states grant their students with free public education till they complete the twelfth grade.
This is a big decision that could impact the lives of thousands nationwide and revolutionize sports as we know it. College athletes should not be paid because of the many benefits that come with being a student athlete and because it is not a realistic resolution. One reason college athletes should not be paid is because of the many benefits there already are to playing a collegiate sport. One being reduced or free admission also known as a scholarship. As the athletes receiving scholarships have a full ride through college their payment is in the form of education benefits as opposed to direct compensation.
Even for most jobs overall, a high school diploma isn’t impressing anyone and it may have to be accepted that a minimum wage job will be the ceiling for any type of work-related income. And remember,
Pursuing the lives they want to live is really important to all students because without any jobs it wouldn’t be easy to live so graduating college and getting a good job is like freedom. In fact, not all students get to go to college because they can’t afford it. If we have free college for every student there would be more freedom and it will be easier for all student to get the job they want to
In the United States, it is believed that if you get good grades you will get into a good college and obtain a degree and a high paying job. Education is the great equalizer among students to achieve upward mobility many think. But is this true? Is the racial gap in education really something to worry about? In the readings that follow, supporters say that the education gap does matter and is widening state.
But what if society didn’t need to work to obtain an education? Society as a whole would more likely love to learn and expand our knowledge, on topics such as, how the universe came to be or where the universe is going. These are topics that Thoreau would have thought about while at Walden pond. But in today’s society, we look at these topics as something far greater than us ourselves and it becomes daunting to think about when thought on too long. But with time to clearly
Free college tuition for everyone is not fair to those who earn their degrees by working hard with patience to affect their societies, others might just work to improve their lives and are not always concerned about the world around them. For example, student who pays to buy their books, protects and values what's in the book than those who are in school with free primary education. Free college tuition has no motivation on students to accomplish their career. So student will take free education for granted. As was previously stated, "'free' is about much more than money.
Volunteering is a great way to experience the real world but its something that should be done by choice. Some people don 't really care for their community because they just want to leave it. They want to find a better future for themselves. No one should be forced to volunteer. Volunteering is suppose to come from the heart.
For, instance, if college athletes were to unionize and get paid, then all collegiate athletes would want the same compensation deal, although their sport doesn’t generate as much revenue as power and performance sports such as football and basketball. The ramifications can be serious if female student athletes mention Title IX, which is a gender equity law that prohibits sex discrimination in any federally funded program or activity. Since some women’s sports generate revenue,
My solution is better than any other proposed solution because all other solutions may ask too much or too little from NCAA making them refuse any proposal talking about the athletes being paid. The annual revenue of college athletics is $10.6 billion and it’s believed that compared to a $120,000 scholarships it shows that the athletes really do deserve to be paid. If the athletes aren’t paid who says that they cannot resort to selling drugs or other illegal activities so they can feed themselves, Athletes are said to have changed their field of study to accommodate with their sport because balancing school and their sport was too hard to do because they spend too much time focused on their sport. The NCAA believes that the fact that the athletes might be drafted and go into being a professional athlete shows that they can wait to be paid.
The immigration system is not something people think about every day, but it is a huge problem for the individuals coming to America. Many people want to come to America because of the opportunities, one being education. Immigrants may have the opportunity to come to America, but cannot afford to go to college to receive the education deserved. There needs to be an education plan provided to immigrants. This new program, called Sponsoring Hope, will provide immigrants with sponsors who pay for them to attend school.
All around the United States, there are people who probably never got the chance to go to college, not because they didn’t want to or weren’t motivated enough, but instead they couldn’t afford to go. In his book, The World Is Flat, Thomas L. Friedman talks about globalization, which means that the world is being flattened. What this means is countries are now able to compete with each other. One solution that would help people in a flattening world is free community college for two years. A majority of people have given up on the idea of college simply because it’s too expensive.
William Butler Yeats once said, “Education is not the filling of a bucket but the lighting of a fire”. Yeats, a famous poet of the 20th century, understood that the benefits of an education do not just end after it is through, like when a bucket gets filled to the brim. Instead, they spread into all aspects of one’s life like a wildfire, and can change the course of one’s life forever—especially if one pursues higher education. A college education is extremely valuable to ensure a successful future.
