Creation is explained in the bible as taking place in 6 days be the word of God, Day 1 he created
the heavens and the earth, and light and darkness. Day 2 he created heaven. Day 3 the dry
land, seas and vegetation. Day 4 he created the sun, moon and stars. Day 5 the living creatures
in the water and birds in the sky. Day 6 he created land, animals and people.
But when did creation take place? Many people such as James Ussher, and Bede tried to
calculate when it all started.
James Ussher tried calculating time by the Bible and counting backward from King
Nebuchadnezzar’s death. He ended up with his date for creation October 23, 4004 BC. Bede
calculated creation to have stared in 3952 BC. He based his reasoning of the date on the

Other non-Christian civilizations had their own ideas and beliefs on how and when creation
started. Egyptians believe creation happened in 39,670 BC. They believe the world emerged
from an infinite, lifeless sea when the sun rose for the first time. Babylonians believed many
gods fought on another and elements of the physical universe came into existence as the by-
product of those battles. The Aztecs believe that the dual Ometecuhtli (Lord of Duality) and
Omecihuatl (Lady of Duality) created themselves and then gave birth to four other gods that
created earth.
Even though there are many stories and dates of creation, we believe the Bible as the truth.
And even though God didn’t give us an exact date, He gave us ways to get close to the real
date. We believe God told us exactly what we needed to know, and no
Genesis Creation Sermon VI: And God Created All the Beasts of the Earth (fig.1) by Jacob Lawrence was created in 1989. This painting is the 6th in a series entitled Eight Studies for the Book of Genesis. In this painting Lawrence depicts a church service where the congregation is being taught by the pastor about the 6th day of creation and the biblical verse Genesis 1:24-25. The viewer goes straight to the pastor who is in the
Alexis Adan 12/4/2014 CH150 T,TH 9:35- 11:00 The Aztec pantheon was a very important and vital concept for the Aztec empire since their religion was born from fear of nature and fear of the end of the world. The death of a sea serpent was actually the cause of the universe’s birth. The Aztecs believed the pantheon attempted to create the world five times.
Young earth creationists believe that God created the universe in six literal 24-hour days. These six literal days are shown to the human race as read from
All living creatures were created before mankind, written in Genesis 1:25-26 by Priestly Source, then, found in Genesis 2:7 and 19 by Jahwist Source, mankind is created first followed by all other living creates. Specific tasks were accomplished on specific days, in Genesis 1:11-13 by the Priestly Source, but there is no specific order of what was created or the days that they were created on, found in Genesis 2:9 by the Jahwist Source. The order of creation is explained as heaven, the Earth, plants, animals, man and woman, from Genesis 1:1-28 by the Priestly Source.
“In the beginning God created the Heavens and the Earth.” Following up the debates about God is the Genesis debate. The Genesis debate could be one of the most controversial of all. It discusses how old the earth is and whether a day means a literal 24-hour day or not. The two largest views are the Young Earth View and the Day-Age View.
Dates: 1889-1957 Category: Biography It's a remarkable fact that science took hundreds of years to come up with a theory to explain the origins of the universe. There's something quintessentially human about asking the question "where does the world come from?". Perhaps because it's a deeper, more fundamental version of "where do I come from?". Yet for most of human history, the answers to such empowered simple question could only be tempted by religion.
24-hour: According to to the 24-Hour viewpoint, the 7 days referred to in Genesis 1 are normal days on the calendar. They argue that it’s clear/obvious that God meant normal, 24 hour, days because the days written in the first chapter are numbered. Also, using the fourth commandment, people who are for the 24-hour viewpoint would argue that since Moses refers to the 7th day, also known as the Sabbath, as a normal day must mean that in Genesis 1, Moses is referring the days as normal. Although these beliefs may seem simple and straightforward, I don’t believe that the specific time spent on each stage of creation is important to know. In my opinion, this viewpoint is taking God’s passage in a scientific way.
The old-earth view thinks that the universe was created before the earth and is far older the young-earth view which believes that God created the universe and earth simultaneously. Old-earth view doesn’t believe that there is a higher being that created it. They believe that things formed over time due to heat, pressure, and other factors. Young-earth scientists believe that there is a higher being and that would be our Heavenly Father. Time is a big factor between these two views.
For example in the the Iroquois Creation story it states “ the turtle increased every moment and became a considerable island of earth, and apparently covered with small bushes”(David Cusick). In this section of writing it states that the earth was formed on the back of a large turtles shell. In the Bible in Genesis chapter 1 verse 1 it states “ In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth”. In this part of writing it states that God had created the heavens and the earth.
The Bible supports the idea that the earth is young. Creation week, according the records, happened around 6,000 years ago. Scientific data affirms the Scripture’s testimony in this matter, as we shall see shortly. If the universe were millions of years old the following things would be true. The moon is receding away from us currently.
The creation myth according to the Aztecs is a continuous story of creations and disasters, it is called the Legend of the Fifth Sun. Creation began when the dual Ometecuhtli (Lord of Duality) and Omecihuatl (Lady of Duality) created itself. This god gave birth to four other gods. These gods created the world. When the first creation was completed, a cycle of 5 suns followed which corresponded to 5 world ages, each one ending in elimination.
He then went on to name the darkness “night” and from that, the first day had finished. God then went on to create the sky on day two. Land and the sea came next with vegetation on day three. On day four, He created two lights that were intended to help distinguish between the daytime and nighttime. These became known as the sun and the moon.
In The Navajo Creation Story Diné Bahane writes that the Gods visited for four days straight and that, the Black Body stayed on the fourth day to explain to the insect people that the Holy People were not happy with them and they did not understand them. He also explained to the insect people that they were to be recreated more in the image of the Holy People. On the twelfth day after the inspect people were clean the Holy People returned bringing with them a sacred buckskin and two ears of corn, one white and one yellow and from a ceremony performed by the Holy People the first man and the first woman were born. In contrast to Diné Bahane Navajo Creation, the Bible states that God alone created the heavens, the earth, and mankind. God
The Bible describes it; ‘….the earth was without form and void… and darkness was upon the face of the deep’ (NKJVGenesis 1:2) and a similar claim is made in Hesiod’s Theogony which alleges that in the beginning there was only confusion of Chaos and unbroken darkness.
When incorporating both science and religion to explain the physical, chemical, and biological origins, one must look at the origin of the cosmos, Earth history, the origin of life, and biodiversity. In doing so, one must maintain a balance between science and religion so that one does not supersede the other. Furthermore, by examining both sides, it will establish an answer that is mutually beneficial for both parties. Starting with the origin of the cosmos, Genesis 1:1 states that God created the universe, Earth, day, and night for nothing. While this story is accepted based on faith, science shows a similar event that resulted in the creation of the universe.
