How did Marilyn Monroe Die?

August 5th 1962 the beautiful, talented, rich, seemingly perfect Marilyn Monroe mysteriously died. Leaving behind a life of fame, luxury and heartbreak, as well as a whole lot of confusion and speculation behind her death. There are many theories to how she died, and this essay will be centred around one. Murder.

There are a few suspects as to who might have killed Marilyn, but they nearly all have weak or non-existent motives. For example: Marilyn’s housekeeper, Eunice Murray? Because she got fired from her job? Not likely. However, there is one very interesting theory which would explain everything. A secret love affair between Marilyn and Robert Kennedy, the brother of the famous, later assassinated President, …show more content…

Evidence points to this because Robert was with his family the weekend of Marilyn’s death and accounted for. So who did he hire? The answer is simple, Eunice Murray. She just lost her job, and maybe she was a bit angry towards Marilyn as a result of it. All Robert had to do was pay her off. She was in a perfect position; she was living with Marilyn. All she had to do was give Marilyn a drug overdose and no one would be wiser. Eunice would make it seem as if Marilyn had committed suicide. Marilyn was already groggy from the extreme amount of Nembutal, prescribed to her by her doctor Hyman Engelberg, and added with some Chloral Hydrate, she was sure to die. Ralph Greenson, Marilyn’s physiatrist had prescribed her with Chloral Hydrate and told Eunice to administer it via enema. When Eunice gave Marilyn the enema, the combination of the drugs and the magnitude was deadly. After killing her, Eunice then decided to phone Greenson and Engelberg to triple check that she hadn’t missed anything that might give her away. When Greenson and Engelberg arrived, Eunice told them that she had accidentally given Marilyn an overdose. Horrified, Greenson and Engelberg pumped Marilyn’s stomach to get rid of the drugs – this would explain her empty stomach, but their attempts were fruitless. Marilyn was too far gone. Worried about the consequences, (dismissed …show more content…

All of which help corroborate this particular murder theory. Eunice Murray: cleaning/tidying Marilyn’s house and doing the laundry while the police were there (if she had given Marilyn an enema then there would have been a mess requiring laundry), changing her story, time and time again, obviously lying about several things. For example: the door was locked – there was no lock on the door, she could see light under the door – the carpet was too thick to see any light under the door, etcetera. The police investigator noted that “Mrs Murray was vague and possibly evasive in answering questions.” It seemed clear that she was hiding something. Also acting suspicious were Ralph Greenson and Hyman Engelberg. In the first story they told to police, Eunice called Greenson at around 12 o’clock, after she grew worried of Marilyn’s wellbeing, and he arrived shortly after. Greenson then used a fire poker to smash one of Marilyn’s windows to see if she was dead. After this they called Engelberg, who arrived promptly afterwards. He then went and had a look at Marilyn before finally pronouncing her dead. All of which probably would have taken them under an hour. So then why did the phone call to the police not come till 4:30am? It doesn’t take over three and a half hours to make a 911 call. Probably after realising their story didn’t make much sense, they changed it again, hiding
