After the war the British were in a lot of debt; they needed a way to pay off the debt. Consequently the war took place in British America, the Parliament of England figured that the colonists should pay the price. The colonists were upset because of the taxes they called unfair. The Molasses Act was the first tax on sugar. The Molasses Act was placed on the colonies, however, the British government did not enforce this “law”.
General George Washington had a major impact in the American Revolution. Washington was one of the main generals in the war. He knew that the only way to get rid of the British was to fight them. He made the colonists fight, by giving them reasons like freedom, no taxes, and no more control, etc. Sadly Washington 's troops were poorly trained, and lacked food and supplies, but his motivation kept them going.
The British gave colonists many reasons to leave during the 1700’s. While there are many reasons the colonists were justified in leaving Britain, one of the main reasons was unfair taxation on colonials to make Britain money. Another reason was Britain creating their own propaganda to demean the colonists’ idea to create a new government. Furthermore, the British would strip the colonists of many of their rights. Finally, Britain would constantly deny any attempt to find peace between the two countries.
The American Revolution did not arise instantly. There were many factors that laid the foundation of the revolution, one being high taxation. In approach to the revolution the colonists developed a sense of identity and unity as Americans. Anger and frustration pointed towards the British built up and eventually exploded into a war. By the eve of the revolution many, but not all colonists set their differences aside to achieve one goal, to overcome the tyrannical British become truly independent.
Without these events Americans would have never been prompted with wanted to become free and break away from British rule. The unfair treatments of the American soldiers during the seven years’ war which were no recognition for the assistance with Britain in winning the war, not being able to migrate west of the Appalachian Mountains because of the proclamation of 1763, and being forced into the war because of the French invasion of the Ohio country. The seven years’ war is similar to the events of World War II because the Americans were thrown into a war that they did not want to join. The main difference is that in World War II the Americans were granted their title for victory unlike the seven years’ war were the British said they did not help in the victory. The seven years’ war relates to the present because without American’s being treated so poorly by the British they would have never been provoked to fight for their independence in the American Revolution or Revolutionary War.
On June 15, 1775, Washington was appointed Major General and Commander-in-Chief of colonial forces. Washington was the colonies’ best choice because he had experience, had been advising the congress, and the biggest factor that went into it was that if he had not been given the job Virginia, a key colony in the resistance, would have backed out. Washington’s troops were not very successful and they lost many battles, but they were victorious in March of 1776 when they forced the British to withdraw from Boston. He then moved his troops to New York City where they fought in the largest battle of the revolution. The british army launched an attack that killed 2,800 men.
How indeed, did the colonies win the war, against a country that had so many advantages over them? The American Revolution was spurred by the colonists’ desire for freedom from Britain. In that time, Britain had become passing ridiculous acts and taxing the settlers without consent. Not only that, but Britain sent troops overseas to help keep the settlers paying their taxes. Before the war, America had no navy, or an organized army.
The outcome of the American Revolutionary War influenced the United States way of Freedom and the way the American people live today. After the French and Indian War King George III figured there was way too much money spent for the upkeep and supplies of his army. Realizing this King George III wanted to raise the taxes to help replenish the money that was lost during time and this is why the reason for the American Revolutionary War ultimately came down to money. Although the patriots wanted to gain freedom and independence, the
The war could have been avoided, but the ship was to slow and the war started because the ship that was slow had the treaty on it. In the battle no one knew the peace treaty was signed until two weeks after it was signed. The war was also fought because James Madison said what the British did were unforgivable. (Howes 4,5,6). It was also fought because the British tried to stop American trading routes.
They were fought in three parts, Europe, India and North America. These wars were increasingly expensive, and eventually bankrupted the French crown. Therefore in turn it helped bring about the French Revolution. However British tried to tackle the problem of cost earlier, nonetheless, when the Seven Years War ended in 1763 they contemplated the Americans to contribute. The British contended that it was only fair they should help pay.
The people would now give the power to the the government they would consent if they agreed to what they were being taxed, restricted on, etc. Divine right had been around for decades, but the war completely changed everything. That shows the revolutionary war was truly revolutionary because the whole concept of a republic was foreign to the people, but yet they did it as they realized they wanted to have a say not listen to what the king has to
The Boston Tea Party, Sugar Act, Tea Act, and Stamp Act all helped to inflame each side in this and help each side to grow hatred for eachother. So the question is, What was the Battle of Lexington and Concord and how did it help to start the Revolutionary War? The Battle of Lexington and Concord didn 't just start because someone said hey let 's go kill a bunch of Brits NO! The war started because of unfair treatment and unjust ways of collecting money that were not necessary to the government and that were not helping the colonies at all. The main reason for the battle to begin was that the British were putting
It started with taxes on things like paper. Then when the Stamp Act was overthrown, the tea tax was put in place by the British, for no beneficial financial reason, just because they could. The colonists needed to revolt and break away, but the British refused to understand that, which is what caused them to go to war. During the war, the British were still taking advantage of the fact that they had control over the colonists. One of the ways they would show this is by quartering the colonists homes.
They rejected the British government 's argument that all British subjects enjoyed virtual representation in Parliament, even if they could not vote for member of the Parliament.” This means that the colonists did not enjoy the Parliament so they rejected Britain 's argument because they did not agree with it. Some people started hinting that there was dark designs behind the Stamp Act. The thought that “the tax was a gradual plot to deprive the colonists of their freedoms and to enslave them beneath a tyrannical regime.” People were very worried about this and they did not want it to happen. They just wanted to live in America with their
However, most American colonists didn’t agree to help the Britain to repay the debt. They thought the true reason for the Great Britain had fought this war is because the Great Britain wants to expand it colonies in America and increase its wealth. But more importantly, American colonists think the Britain Parliament was elected by British who living in Britain, so these member of the Parliament won’t understand what the colonists need. Since these member of the Parliament cannot represent the American Colonists, they have no right to imposing taxes. In the year 1774, the Boston tea party occurred leads all American Colonists begin to
