All About The American Revolution
The French and Indian War Begins
In 1754 the French and Indian War began. This war took place when two different groups of people wanted to claim the Ohio River Valley. Now you may be thinking that these two groups of people were the French and the Indians, but actually the fight was between the French and the British. France wanted this land because they thought it would be a good connection between the lands that they already owned, Canada and Louisiana whereas Britain saw it as an area for trade and growth. To drive out the British, in about 1750, France sent more soldiers and built forts on the eastern side of the Valley.
When Britain saw this as an act of war, the fight began. Through reading all this, you may be wondering why this was called the French and Indian War. Let me tell you. Both the British and French sided with the Indians to form stronger forces. Britain fought by lining up in rows and rotating rows round after round. The French however, fought by hiding against trees and rocks.
Personally, I think the French had a better method of fighting because the British wouldn’t know which rocks and trees the French would be hiding against, and they would be taken by surprise. You may have a different opinion though. Anyway, in the beginning the

A nickname for this was the Intolerable Acts. This was a set of laws that the colonies were coerced or forced to follow. A few examples of the laws that were placed was that until the colonists payed for the tea, the Boston Harbor was to be closed. The British navy did this. To stretch out the box even farther, Thomas Gage, the British General, was to make the laws instead of the Massachusetts governor, and all town meetings were banned that weren’t held by him. The last thing that I think is horrible is that there was a law that said the colonists had to quarter or feed and house British
In our Social Studies book it states that the British kept making acts to put the colonists in line. The British made acts like the Quartering Act , (where British soldiers invaded colonists home and forced them to serve them) colonists barely had enough money to support their family and then the British enforce this law. Don’t even get me started on the Counting Act where King George III just had to come in and make some act just so he can put colonists in line. I mean I get that King George III had to pay for the French and Indian war but that just made the colonists angry so then they started to rebel and and then the King made more acts to wallop the
The French and Indian War altered the relations of the American Colonies and Britain through political, economic, and geographical issues. At the start of the French and Indian War the French owned a big majority of land but the during the war the French lost their land to the English. The Treaty of Paris in 1763 gave the English, the French land of North America (Doc A).
Competition over resources among European societies led to trade and conflict. One such conflict was the French and Indian War. Both the British and the French wanted to control the land, and its resources, located in the Ohio River Valley. The British tried to control Native American trade and gain more land by taking over French forts in the Ohio River Valley. Eventually, the French were kicked out of continental North America when the British won.
French and Indian War The Ohio Company was an important vehicle through which British investors planned to expand into the Ohio Valley, opening new settlements and trading posts for the Indian trade. In 1753, the French themselves began expanding their military control into the Ohio Country, a territory already claimed by the British colonies of Virginia and Pennsylvania. These competing claims led to a war in the colonies called the French and Indian War, and contributed to the start of the global Seven Years' War . By chance, Washington became involved in its beginning.
The events that led to the French war and Indian war consist of many factors. First, the argument of who got the Ohio River Valley. Second, the hassle of the French and Indians who both wanted different things. Third, the Iroquois Confederacy, which sed brain power instead of physical power to ignite the war. Next, the colonists starting to interfere with the war.
In 1754 the French & Indian War took place in many locations including Europe. India and North America. The French and Indian War, as it was referred to the colonies was the beginning of open hostiles between the colonies and Great Britain. England and France had been building toward conflict over domination in North America. William Pit saw the colonial conflicts as key to building a fast British empire.
When you think of the Revolutionary War you think of the brave men fighting in the war, and how it was just the beginning for America; but we never think about how we actually got to a point for a revolution or how this revolution even came about. There are many components that lead up to the war, including the French and Indian War in 1763. The French and Indian War might not have started the Revolutionary War, but it helped pave the path in that direction, giving the colonists the confidence and independence it needed, drowning England in debt, and growing the resentment between the British and the Colonists. One factor the French and Indian war did for the colonists was providing them confidence and independence as a country. Fighting alongside the British gave the colonists military experience and helped them realize that they did not need the big bad British to protect them, especially if they weren’t fight very well in battle.
The French and Indian War resulted from ongoing frontier tensions in North america, as both French and British imperial officials and colonists began to extend their regions. In North America, the French colonists, and their native allies were up against Great Britain, the Anglo-American colonists, and the Iroquois Confederacy. The border between French and British possessions were not well defined, and one disputed territory was the upper Ohio River Valley. The Ohio River Valley was not only valuable, but very fertile too, and this would later become the battleground and prize of the war. The war ended with the Treaty of Paris leaving the crushing defeat of France and the Victory of Britain, although Britain seemed to suffer more after
The French and Indian War resulted from conflicts between the Native Americans and the colonists engaging in various conflicts ultimately leading into the French and Indian War. Following the war the French had lost all their territory they had in Western America and was taken over by the British Empire. Although the British gained land, which doubled the amount of land they had originally, they had found themselves in a tremendous amount of debt. The British believed since the war was fought on the colonist land and developed because of the colonies the colonies should be the ones paying off most of the British debt that accumulated during the war. Bearing in mind, during the war the colonies had united together realising they need to be unified
The French and Indian war (also known as the Seven Years war in Europe’s side.) had many causes and effects. Some of these were the westward expansion and the forts the French were building. This war was over North America and who would control it, France or England. This war involved lots of battles and key events that helped shape the way the war would end.
The French and Indian war occurred for nine years between 1754 and 1763. This war was between the French and British in North America. The French and Indian War was part of a much larger war between France and England (Seven Years’ War). Despite the continued American loyalty to the king after the French and Indian War, the political and economic tensions marked a turning point in American relations with Great Britain. Most colonists remained loyal to the king after the French and Indian War until 1776.
Imports of lead, glass, paper, paint, and tea were taxed; the British government wanted the colonists to pay so they created punishments for colonists who
The French and British conflict during the mid-18th century eventually progressed to North America, where the conflict became the French and Indian War. The dramatic shift from the British neglecting their control to their drastic major control increased tensions between the soon to be United States and its mother country Great Britain, as well as increasing anti- British sentiments. The 7 Years’ War sparked many patriotic beliefs against the British monarchy and parliament. Colonists started to notice the aggravating presence of troops and an over abundance of taxation after the war.
After the French and Indian War the British were had a gargantuan debt! In order to pay off such a huge debt they imposed new taxes and enforced old ones. Great Britain thought that it was allowed to pass laws like these, because Britain had protected the colonists therefore the colonists have to give obedience. Laws like the Stamp Act, Sugar Act, Tea Act, and along with the British being oblivious to colonists’ pleas to change the harsh laws (Document 2) allowed
The French and Indian war, also known as the Seven Years’ war, was fought between France and Great Britain. It started because of French expansion into the Ohio Valley. This expansion created conflict
