Why was the killing of Harrison Bergeron so significant? Did Harrison have to die for the sake of the society? It was significant because it shows that we all want to be equal but we can't. The definition of equality is different amongst people. Harrison Bergeron was introducing a new form of equality where everyone could be equal in their own way, shape and form. Handicaps were put in because competition=inequality. Harrison Bergeron questioned that by taking off his handicap.
