Man created one’s human rights of people and it is only man that uses this concept. Animal abuse is not defined by all people in the same way. Some people think that animal abuse is only defined by physically hitting an animal. It is the crime of inflicting physical pain, suffering or death upon any non-human animal, regardless of whether the act is against the law. An abuse performed on animals involves the process of animal testing, use in a classroom, and experimentation. Animal abuse of any kind is unethical and should be outlawed. The human race needs to have the obligation of setting limits for animal rights while, protecting the animals rights. People often ask if animals should have rights. The answer is yes! Everyone must know that animals do have rights and which rights they are entitled to have. Although animals may not be able talk or cognition but that shouldn’t be the questions ask. Rather the question should be if they can suffer. As the People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals Staff (PETA) states that “The capacity for suffering is not just another characteristic like the capacity for language or high mathematics. All animals have the ability to suffer in the same way and to the same degree that humans do. They feel pain, pleasure, fear, frustration, loneliness, and motherly love.” Animals who are victims of violence suffer the same way humans do. They are vulnerable, defenseless and are controlled by us humans. We never considered the impact of these actions on the animals involved. Animals should be treated with compassion. By animal rights it does not mean that they should have the right to operate a automobile or have the right to vote. It simply means that all animals on this planet should exist with the right to live free from pain and suffering. There are some things morally wrong to do to animals. A case that is usually argued for the idea that animals have rights would include that they do not think, have souls, behave morally, that they are not conscious and that they lack the capacity for free moral judgement. Human beings and mammals have rights because they are both ‘subjects-of-a-life’. In the video, “What animals are thinking and feeling, and why it should matter” Carl Safina discusses how animals and humans are related. Both species take the time to teach our younger generation. As well as knowing who their friends and family are. Also they share the same imperatives. Our brains are not different but rather similar. Both species have similarities in senses and emotions. A chimpanzee brain compared to a human brain is similar only the human brain is bigger in size. Both humans and animals feel empathy, sympathy and compassion for one another (Safina).An example could be right in a person's home. We know that pets can think and feel.
