Have you ever had a dream, but thought where do I start, what do I do to make that dream come true? Well the answer is goals. Setting goals are the first step to your wildest dreams, even for becoming successful. So how are they important? They give us a focus, help us overcome procrastination and provide us with motivation. Without goals, we are left with no ambition, no drive and no direction in life, making goals a key part in a successful life and having your wildest dreams come true.
When setting goals, it gives us a focus, a purpose and a sense of direction. I want you to to imagine having to shoot an arrow without being given a target. Tell me, where would you aim? This is a metaphorical view of what life would be like with no goals.

Now I’m sure we have all left that maths assignment or that history project to the night before it’s due. But if we all had a goal in mind and a sense of direction and determination we would have overcome that procrastination and have finished it on time, and maybe even spell checked it and drafted it. According to recent statics from mytimemanagement.com, 85% to 95% of students suffer from procrastination. Once again, this is due to the lack of goals set and a poor sense of determination. Although setting long term goals is important, sometimes these goals can promote procrastination as some people aren't good with four month deadlines. That’s when short term goals come in handy. Hence, the results obtained from this study cannot be generalized to a wider population to explain their procrastinating behavior. Future research must incorporate a more representative sample.
