A lot of the researches found that companies’ performance is highly related with the job satisfaction of the employees. According to Locke (1976), job satisfaction is “a pleasurable or positive emotional state resulting from the appraisal of one's job or job experiences.” Factors such as job security and income can influence the job satisfaction. However, recent finding found that job satisfaction of the employees was mainly influenced by their attitude and personality. According to the Staw, Bell, and Clausen (1986) that job satisfaction is largely genetically impacted. This mentioned genetic factor described in term of the attitude and personality of the individuals. In general, the positive attitude and employees will have a positive job satisfaction. The negative attitude employees will have a negative position on job satisfaction. Furthermore, the personality issues also influenced the job satisfaction of the employees. These attitude and personality will be reflected on the behaviors of the employees. In the company, there are many reasons why managers should consider about the job satisfaction of the employees. First of all, job satisfaction creates the organization citizenship behavior. Organization citizenship behavior defined by Organ (1988) as “Individual behavior that is discretionary, not directly or explicitly recognized by the formal reward system, and in the aggregate promotes the effective functioning of the organization” The commitment behavior from the satisfied employees will influenced toward the work environment and work attitude. Furthermore, the managers use it to create stronger relationship in the workplaces. Hence, the managers should care about the employees’ satisfaction to develop a better team of employees. Secondly, job satisfaction makes loyal employees. It is included the reduction of absenteeism and the resignation of the employees. The absenteeism is the term generally use for the absence of the employees without any good reasons according to the dissatisfaction. The costs of absenteeism are significant to the companies. To illustrate this problem, the survey about the costs of lost in productivity related to the absenteeism in United States presented that the annual cost of lost in productivity could be vary from $0.16 billion to $24.2 billions . It also causes the obstructions in the business processes. In subsequently, the employees the feel uncomfortable and dissatisfy are more likely to find new job. This turnover problem creates a lot of consequence. For instance, the discontinuity of the company projects, high cost of employment, and high training cost for the new employees.
