The diversity throughout the animal and plant kingdom is astonishing, is it not? Especially in the oceans, where we only discovered a handful of creatures. However, out of that handful, mankind has learned so much. With that knowledge, comes the desire to protect and preserve each and every precious life discovered. Whether that’d be a Madagascar Lace plant or a Sunfish; they are all important. However it isn’t an easy task, especially for the whales, dolphins, coral reefs and other marine life. They are found washed up on the sandy shores almost every day or dead along the coasts. This is due to Low Frequency Active Sonars that are one of the main causes for the “use to be” mysterious death of these sea beasts. These tests are killing what other people are trying so hard to protect; Low Frequency Active Sonars should be …show more content…
Just so that I could gain the knowledge that there is a vessel spying on the Gulf Coast. There are other means to gain that information, that aren’t dangerous to marine life. Our military uses Low Frequency Active Sonars the most out of all other sources that we have, and they deny the fact that Low Frequency Active Sonars are dangerous and destroy marine life. Despite all the evidence that is shown, they have denied it. With being said, they have been granted permission by multiple foundations and so forth, to use these deadly sonar waves on multiple coast and oceans. The locals can make a fuss, but in the end, the proof is disregarded. As I said before, they may have our nation’s best interest and mean to be well intended, however they are ignorant and blinded by their sole missions. Do we really want to have unnecessary protection for our nation in exchange for the life that hides under the
We can only move forward from today and do as much as we can to make the Pacific Ocean a safe place for these species. It comes from simple things such as picking up small pieces of litter and making sure litter goes in the trash
Since the mid-1900, NRDC and other organizations have been wondering whether or not it has been the Navy’s sonar testing that has been killing our whales and different animals in the ocean. In 2000, investigations led to U.S naval sonar testing being the cause of dozens of whales from different species found beached around the Bahamas. (Since) Reaching at 235-decibel pressure wave’s cause a certain high pitched noise that hurts the whales. Now, 200 decibel let alone can rupture lungs, and any higher can cause brain to hemorrhage. “If you’re not deaf after this devastating sonar blast, you’re dead.”
The more we can understand about marine life, the more we are advancing as an educated
Today, our whale’s are effected by changes in the environment, including habitat destruction and
found that wind-driven waves contribute to ocean noise (1985) while Nystuen and Farmer found precipitation to be a culprit as well (1987). This noise is of great concern to groups such as cetaceans, who utilize sound
The great white shark is one of the most notorious fish in the oceans for being a ‘human killing machine’. Blockbuster shark attack movies like ‘Jaws’ are not helping their reputation because they make humans terrified of sharks, but the reality is that you have better odds of getting killed by a falling coconut, getting struck by lightning, or getting stung by bumblebee. The fact is we need sharks in our oceans. Great white sharks are being hunted to extinction, which will disrupt the natural ecosystem of the ocean, but there are conservation groups trying to help.
The Board doesn't think enough ocean habitats are safe. They support this with “only 1 percent of marine habitats (are) strictly protected” (par.12). This last statistic allows the reader to realize just how much needs to
We live in a world where marine life eat our trash, while at the same time, people go days without having something to eat. It is a sad but devastating reality. Everyday the world’s oceans continue to become a universal junkyard. Marine pollution continues to grow exponentially on the one resource that separates us from the rest of the universe. On land, there is a different problem.
Since the dawn of man, human beings have been obsessed with the ocean. There’s something about the literal sea of mystery, that incredibly vast unknown that fascinates us and appeals to our inquisitive nature and insatiable lust for knowledge. For millennia, mankind has sailed the seas in search of treasure, monsters, and adventure (although the first two haven’t always been found, the third is almost always obtained). Despite the fact our nautical technology is the best that it has ever been, the human race has explored less than five percent of the ocean and it is unlikely that we will scrape double digits any time soon. While we may be able to navigate our way across the ocean’s surface, much of what lies beneath our boats and cruise ships
Sarah Freeman’s article in The Ethicalist explains the negative effects humans have on the ocean. These negative effects include plastic pollution, global warming, and worst of all, overfishing. Overfishing occurs when a fish species is wild caught faster than it can reproduce. This leads to fewer fish in the ocean, meaning less marine biodiversity (Freeman). After Freeman spends most of her article explaining how the oceans are suffering, she then starts talking about what can be done to prevent a baren sea.
About 71 percent of our planet Earth is covered by water, and the majority comes from the oceans (about 96.5 percent of all Earth’s water). It remains as the most expansive, diverse, and mysterious places on planet Earth. But it is being threatened by the pollution by people and nature itself. By polluting the habitat of marine organism will indirectly affect the ecosystem of the marine life. Marine life is dying and as the result the oceanic ecosystem is threatened.

Therefore, the impact of overfishing and illegal collecting of coral may destroyed the social and economic well-being of the coastal communities who depend on fish for their way of life. Beside, it is also direct overexploitation of fish, intertebrates, and algae for food and the aquarium trade, removal of a species or group of species impacting multiple trophic levels, bycatch and mortality of nontarget species, and change from coral to algal dominance due to reduction in herbivores (Reef Resilience Organisation,
They are very unique in many different ways and a crucial support for human life. They play also a very important role in the marine life such as giving shelter and food for millions of species including fishes, crabs, or shrimps. They support 33% of marine fish species. They also have specific and certain conditions to be formed, and to survive. They are also known as the “rainforest of the oceans” because of its huge diversity.
The ocean is nowadays undergoing numerous environmental issues that further lead to marine pollution. Marine pollution is a very serious environmental issue that most of the countries of the world encounter. Aquatic littering is considered as one of the major causes of marine environment. The misleading use of the marine environment is extremely impacting the marine life and ecosystems. Moreover, the total amount of toxins and debris discharged by human beings is incredibly increasing in today 's world.
