Every couple of weeks or so, you hear stories of professional athletes having their sport taken away from them, because of the drive to be the biggest, strongest and best they could be. Due to this drive, they begin to use Performance Enhancing Drugs. PED’s are a danger to athletes and their health, and they should remain banned. Some of these dangers are cardiovascular difficulties, dangerous side effects, and illness in the liver.
Athletes who abuse them use them the wrong way. They use them to get an upper hand n competition and take advantage of what steroids can do for them, and who are willing to use them under the medical risks that come with using them. Athletes who use them like that are using to enhance muscle mass, and give them an energy boots so they can train linger and harder. They are using them fr all the wrong reasons when there are healthier ways to enhance muscle mass and get better at something without the aid of drugs. I strongly believe that using steroids is cheating in competition.
Dedication takes heart, courage, and effort, and most serious athletes will tell you that the competitive drive to win can be fierce. Athletes often pursue dreams of winning a medal for their country or securing a spot on a professional team, which caused the use of performance-enhancing drugs has become increasingly common (“Performance- Enhancing Drugs: Know the Risk”). The abuse of performance-enhancing drugs can cause depression just like what happened with Taylor Hooton started using steroids because he “needed to be bigger” for his senior year (Grossfeld); after a long term use of steroids he hanged himself from his bedroom door on July 15, 2003. In Plano, Texas (Grossfeld). Even though Steroids can demonstrate the highest potential on a human being, Athletes should not be able to use performance-enhancing drugs, because they can bring serious health problems and using steroids you are cheating not only others, you are cheating also yourself.
Drugs are a big issue in the sports industry. Many athletes will take performance-enhancing drugs, such as steroids, to help them play better. These types of drugs should not be allowed because it gives the player a greater advantage over other players who are playing with their natural ability. This issue could be solved if there was monthly drug testing and if the drug was not so easy to get ahold of. Many major league baseball players are getting caught using performance-enhancing drugs. Mostly power hitters and pitchers will use these steroids.
Commonly known as juice, roids, and gym candy, anabolic steroids or PEDs (performance enhancing drugs) are illegally used for unfair advantages by many players in Major League Baseball. Since the 1930’s, steroids have been available for use. Anabolic steroids are a synthetic type of male hormone, testosterone, that are used in combination with a workout. Also similar to steroids are human growth hormones commonly known as HGH. Both anabolic steroids and HGH help contribute to endurance during a hard workout, greater muscle mass and strength, and quicker recovery.
Steroids are commonly associated with a negative connotation when it comes to athletes and body builders. Yet few are informed about the benefits steroids provide. There are two types of steroids: Cortisone and Anabolic steroids. Cortisone steroids are used to treat medical conditions whereas anabolic steroids are used to replicate human sex hormones. Steroids benefit those with hormone imbalances, respiratory disorders and increase athletic ability.
Drugs For Thugs “A positive drug test can destroy an athlete 's career and tarnish his or her legacy”(Porterfield,25). Fans look up to athletes as role models but since fans look up to them so much they do things to stay at the top of there games. Yes athletes want to be the best in the league but it doesn 't take drugs to become that it takes hard work so why do it. So I think there should be a harsher punishment for athletes caught using steroids and performance drugs because of health problems, it gives them an unfair advantage plus it gives the sport and athletes a bad reputation.
Also, when drugs are used it takes the human effort away from sports where athletes have trained hard. There are many different types of PEDs and here are some of the major ones that are used: Stimulants: Stimulants are substances that act directly on the central nervous system to speed up parts of the brain and body. Anabolic steroids: They build muscle and increase endurance. They are used mostly by football players and weightlifters.
1st Draft Many people see steroids as a bad thing, but some medicines that doctors give to us contains anabolic steroids. We asked the question should we use steroids or should we ban the use of steroids. A list of articles i found tell tell us and argue about the use of steroids and the types of steroids.
Introduction: One of the largest industries in the United States is the professional sports industry; it brought in $63 billion in 2015 1. Professional athletes are seen as strong and talented, but how much of their strength and talent is achieved naturally? Performance-enhancing drugs have been increasingly used in professional sports and are prohibited from being used, but should they be prohibited?
The Use of Anabolic Steroids in Professional Baseball A steroid is classified as a large class of organic compounds with a characteristic molecular structure containing four rings of carbon atoms (Duax, Weeks &Rohrer, 1976). Steroids are used to treat specific types of conditions in which the body 's defense systems are no longer working properly and cause tissue damage. People who suffer from these types of conditions are often treated with a steroid called Corticosteroids: This can be given intravenously or by mouth and are considered the first line of treatment for certain inflammatory conditions. Inflammation can cause irreversible damage to the body’s organs; steroids can be used to save these organs and in many instances
The negative side effects of steroids are often not shown. Steroids can harm a full grown adult’s body, and the effects are only amplified in teenagers. Anabolic steroids can have long-lasing and sometimes irreversible effects on the body. They have been linked to high cholesterol, blood clots, strokes, and musculoskeletal problems. Since steroids are a hormone like testosterone, the effects can cause a sort of hyper-masculinity in young men.
Introduction Drug use in sports has always been a controversial issue. With athletes pushing for the top podium position, performance enhancing drugs can be extremely enticing. One of the main types of drugs used by athletes are stimulants such as cocaine, amphetamines or ecstasy. These can create unfair advantages in sports. To keep sports even and fair, certain drugs became prohibited.
Bryan Arana English 1C Professor Breckheimer 10/20/15 Steroids in Sports Should sports be only about the performance? In the world of sport, competition is to be the number one reason why steroid use has become popular among athletes. This is a controversial issue because it makes the athletes get to the point of make the risk to using steroids.
Performance enhancing drug use is increasing muscle strength, body size, and the healing rate. It allows fans to see the maximum potential of the athletes. However (transitions) it is not fair to the athletes that don 't use steroids. Steroids are not any different than other drugs: they are addicting. (compound)
