In high school and in college students tend to cheat because they feel that cheating is the only way to pass a class. Students feel the need to cheat because they are stressed out from the work the teachers are assigning them or they are going through personal problems at home. Cheating on tests and also homework assignments are a persistent problem with many high school and also college students. Technology has improved over the last years and that is one of the reasons why it is easier for students to cheat. Today, academic dishonesty is easier because some teachers do not consider it as cheating.

The most overused excuse is, “The teacher never taught us how to do that assignment.” Students cheat because the teacher is not teaching their students the unit, chapter or even what is going to be on the test thoroughly enough. If the teachers focused more on teaching the students the lesson for the day and less time on planning for future lessons than maybe some students would not need to cheat. The practices are not just after school but before school as well. With all hours of the day occupied by sport and school with homework added into the mix of it all, there will be homework forgotten. Athletes have one goal and that is to go on to college and play the sport they love, but if homework is missed and with homework counting as a big part of a students grade, these athletes are more prone to find a way to get the homework done as fast as they can and they will find any way possible to get the homework done, which unfortunately includes
