In high school and in college students tend to cheat because they feel that cheating is the only way to pass a class. Students feel the need to cheat because they are stressed out from the work the teachers are assigning them or they are going through personal problems at home. Cheating on tests and also homework assignments are a persistent problem with many high school and also college students. Technology has improved over the last years and that is one of the reasons why it is easier for students to cheat. Today, academic dishonesty is easier because some teachers do not consider it as cheating.

The most overused excuse is, “The teacher never taught us how to do that assignment.” Students cheat because the teacher is not teaching their students the unit, chapter or even what is going to be on the test thoroughly enough. If the teachers focused more on teaching the students the lesson for the day and less time on planning for future lessons than maybe some students would not need to cheat. The practices are not just after school but before school as well. With all hours of the day occupied by sport and school with homework added into the mix of it all, there will be homework forgotten. Athletes have one goal and that is to go on to college and play the sport they love, but if homework is missed and with homework counting as a big part of a students grade, these athletes are more prone to find a way to get the homework done as fast as they can and they will find any way possible to get the homework done, which unfortunately includes
In the article “Studies Find More Students Cheating, With High Achievers No Exception,” Richard Pérez-Peña explains the increase in cheating among high achieving students and how they are being enabled. Initially, Pérez-Peña suggests that new technology has made cheating easier by allowing the student to obtain the answers at a click of a button. Technology allows students to instantly connect to the internet and other students to communicate answers (Pérez-Peña 1). This indicates that it is unchallenging for students to use technology to secure an ample grade. Furthermore, in disregards to ethics, parents have become enablers to students cheating in recent years.
The nature of cheating originates from the common misconception of helping others and a student’s lack of self-confidence. Plagiarism, not so different from cheating, disperses from the broad range of information on today’s technology. Through an authentic study, it has been revealed that teachers have established many students who have cheated their way through complexed assignments. Even misleading students who have kept a high grade point average has been found as participants of academic dishonesty. Today, professors seek to find different measures that should be taken to decrease cheating and plagiarism.
The time for homework of an athlete is very little time. For example, I am a cross country runner here at College of The Desert, I am up by 5:00 in the morning to leave for practice, I end practice around 7:30, or 8 depending on the workout, I then need to get home and get ready for my next class, and after that my next class, I end up getting home around 9:30pm, and get started on homework, which could take up to a couple of hours, and I go to bed around 2am, and then get some sleep for the next practice, it may not be everyday but it does take a tole on an athlete's body. College football players should be paid for the risks that they put their bodies in, when they are in the game or on the practice field. As a matter of fact, players are virtually full-time employees for their colleges. “College athletes are mass-audience performers and need to be rewarded as such…players spend 40 hours per week on their sports… [and] are essentially working full-time football jobs while going to school.” (Text 2, lines 5, 10, 15) Therefore, unlike other students who may attend the same university/college, student athletes are required to put more effort into what they do, ensuring their best performance on the field while maintaining their grades for school. There are some seasons where school becomes a second priority, and the players would practice hours on end to put on an exciting game.
So some kids will cheat to get on there. The pressure of school sometimes makes students do really bad things that will change their life forever. 64% of students have handed in work done by others and 72% of students work on assignments together. Also 53% of students have admitted to cheating on tests. Some of the things students do are cutting to get their mind off of things, and taking drugs.

Some teens play sports and have practices after school. Teens that play sports argue that they will not have any free time in their day. “Some argued that later start times would get in the way of after-school activities like football practice” (Associate Press). This quote is an appropriate argument because many teens do play sports. Athletes at Beaumont High School often have practices after the school day is over.
Then they have practice; after practice they are to go to a mandatory study hall. The “average Division One college athlete spends over 40 hours a week on their game” (Jacobs). After all of this, they are exhausted, but they still go home to study a little more and wrap up some unfinished studying or homework. These athletes miss class and school days very often due to away games. This means having to spend time trying to catch up on the material that was presented in class and the work that needed to be done.
Obviously, when students don 't have after school sports they become less stressed and have more time to study for tests which overall increases their grades. Therefore, schools need to cut sports to make sure that all of their students succeed so they 're prepared for the rough future that awaits

Many of the top athletes never even finish their degree after playing for four years (Cooper 12-13). College athletes are encouraged to sign up for easier classes.
