Why Do Texas Have Responsible Parties

American political parties are not responsible parties by which i mean they have neither centralized control over nominations and financing or the power to impose on the party platform on members. The parties in texas are especially weak,because neither the primary election or the party organization is important in deciding who is nominated to office, and candidates rely on their own fundraising more than their party to help them get elected. Texas should have disciplined parties in the future because it would make more intelligent voting, encourage more people to vote, the candidates chosen would be loyal and not betray the public's trust, and office and public policy would be easier to enact while more self consistent. In a responsible party the above would never happen it would be prevented so that the wealthy candidates can not secretly buy loyalty. If the candidate was part of a responsible party the public would know that they can trust that candidate because in a responsible party the party has the power to impose the party platform on the members including the candidate. Lastly if candidates were forced to endorse a single set principles in order to run, there would be very little conflict forming both an office and public policy that would be easier to enact and be more self consistent. While it is true that saying the same thing could hurt a party, unity can also give strength to a party. If a party is together it can go farther than a party that is always discussing. A party could go fast and accomplish things if it discussed but it can go much farther if it worked together towards a similar
