Trevor Gordon Mrs. Gallos English III Honors 29 March 2018 Do violent video games cause violence? Do violent video games cause violence? This has been an extremely controversial topic that has come up recently along with the rise of violent video games. Even though research and experiments have been conducted that show that there is no link at all in violent video games and violence, other studies have been conducted that show that there is a link between violent video games and violence. Also, some parents do not believe the studies that show that there is not a link present so they are limiting these games because of the fact that they believe there is a link between violent games and violence. Well to begin with I think I have to go with the side that violence is not caused by violent video games. That is because there has been an extreme amount of facts that support this claim. Also based off of the numbers I do not think violent video games are the reason for this. For example, like I said at the beginning of this paper 90% of the whole population play video games and 87% of those are violent. So if violence was caused by violent video games almost all of the United States population would be committing a crime. Also since I play so many violent video games I do not think that they cause violence. I mean I have never got in a fight, I have never stolen anything, I have never committed any crime, and I do not cheat on things in school. It also is not like I do not play violent video games that much because almost every day I will go home and play at least an hour. As far as if I think this is going to become a problem or not I really do not think this is going to become a huge problem in our upcoming society. I think this because once again you have to go back to the numbers and they are that all ready 90% of the whole United States plays video games and that number cannot really increase too much. I also agree with the majority of the studies that state that the violence that is occurring is to be blamed on something else.
