Which roughly transalates to :
“Protected by father in teenage
Protected by husband in youth Protected by son in old age
Women does not deserve freedom”
(This is an extract from Manusmriti , an ancient Indian text about religion and conduct.)
At each point of her life a woman is protected by someone. The end result of this vicious cycle of protectiveness is that the woman loses her freedom. They are also creating a fake sense of freedom by means fashion shows, modelling and beauty pageants. Here they are trying to enhance the norm that women are to be looked at as an object of beauty. We will have to consider this as one of the major challenges our country has faced with. The invisibility of women in our country’s development is pointed out as great disadvantage .This invisibility is visible in all administrative and political spheres .No developmental, social, or revolutionary programme stands a chance to succeed when half of its population is made to step aside. I believe that in order to develop any entity must take hold of this challenge. I believe that by raising girls as free individuals, by prevailing democracy inside household, and by empowering women this problem can be tackled.
