The role of women has changed dramatically, especially in economic and political environment when they have achieved many great accomplishments. However, they still suffer from gender discrimination that creates a countless challenge for women to supporting their career. Therefore, we should provide more opportunities for women to promote their leadership positions.
Gender should not be a factor in whether or not a person can be a great leader- a person’s leadership abilities should depend on their individual strengths and personality traits.

If women could hold political power, there might be less war because as mothers, women have evolutionary incentives to maintain peaceful conditions in which to nurture their offspring and ensure that their genes survive into the next generation. Women are underrepresented as voters, as well as in leading positions, whether in elected office, the civil service, or the private companies. This occurs despite their proven abilities as leaders and agents of change, and their right to participate equally in democratic governance. Women face several obstacles to participating in civil and political life. Structural barriers through discriminatory laws, attitudes, gender stereotypes and institutions still limit women’s options to run for office. People usually think that women are governed by their emotions and it is very dangerous for human to put more power in their hand. Peter Drucker once said “Effective leadership is not about making speeches or being liked; leadership is defined by results not attributes”(BrainyQuote). Indeed, many leaders enjoy being popular. But popularity is not the most important trait in a leader; people should look at a leader’s results rather than his/her ability to speak. In order for one to be powerful, they must know the definition of power. Power is defined as, “a person that has a lot of control and influence over other people” (Merriam Webster Dictionary”. One might not truly understand the disadvantage that women have been given in life. Throughout history it is evident that women have always been a dishonor to society, and they have been treated as if they are inferior to men. What people fail to realize, is that women, are forceful, influential, intellectual human-beings.

Clearly, because women 's specific rights and interests are not protected otherwise.” This quote provides perfect insight into what women would be more invested in that men would otherwise disregard because they aren’t as involved. This is a continuing long trend in which female graduates have highly outnumbered the male graduates. This alone gives evidence as to how important the participation of women in politics and government is essential as to building and sustaining democracy.
It is the masculine ideals and norms that are privileged over others in society. With such power, women in poverty and their support organizations can create pressure on leaders and insight change to prioritize political issues. However, “power” in the context of this argument comes as a direct result of education and opportunity. Women are overwhelmingly outnumbered and mistreated in America’s workforce. Women deserve the right to sufficient living wages, not because of some law but because its FAIR. Management often doesn’t offer flexibility to women in consideration of their caregiving.
One might say, then your statement of women inequalities are not really on point. To the contrary, these women are needed to prove themselves way more than that of what a man has to do. Therefore, leaving the playing field very much uneven; in some cases, the women are obtaining degrees and doctorates and needing to start their own church to be the leader, because the men of these established organizations still have a problem sharing the limelight and pulpit with women who are in many ways smarter than them. I’ve come to the conclusion that as women we will have to work five times harder, achieve ten times more, and make sure I don’t take any sick days in order to garner the same respect an ordinary man has and receives.
As women’s positions in leadership continue to grow in our world, I find that my interest and confidence in taking on leadership positions in and out of school has grown as well. In school, I have become more involved in being a leader in different organizations. From being Vice President of the Literati and captain of the Girl’s Soccer team there are so many different ways to be a leader. Being a leader in these organizations allows me to share my passions with others, and inspire them to do more. As Vice President of the Literati, I encourage members to share their enthusiasm towards English with the rest of the community.
