Bonjour! France is famous for masses of entitles from French fries to French toast and even the beautiful language. What we have seemed to do, though, is not give them enough credit for their ADHD treatment. Right now in France the amount of children diagnosed with ADHD is less than 9% (Why French Kids Don't Have ADHD (2012). Yes, that is right the French physicians and scientist remain at different opinions when dealing with ADHD than America. They believe that it is biological and were not created from injuries to the head, and during pregnancy. Whereas too generally physicians in America feel it is a neurodevelopmental disorder. However in America counseling and therapy are also treatments, nonetheless the doctors prefer pharmaceuticals over them. The reason for the France's treatment is so that they can analyze the true problem and observe it under a different perspective before they essentially diagnose the patient with ADHD and offer them medication that could correct the chemical imbalance in the child’s brain (G. In the article “ADHD Is Overdiagnosed”, by Caryn Carlson, the author Carlson is discussing the factors that are leading to ADHD currently being overdiagnosed and overtreated. According to Carlson, based on recent studies there is reason to believe that ADHD is being overdiagnosed in certain regions of the U.S., namely the use of the drug methylphenidate has skyrocketed soon after the turn of the century. Its usage had doubled from 2001 to 2006, with its largest increase stemming from teenagers and young adults. Carlson states that the dramatic increase most likely supports the theory of over diagnose. One of the reasons behind this is that clinicians sometimes diagnose without assessing all criteria and rely mainly on parent reports.
This study took place among people diagnosed with ADHD and take medication for it, and those who don’t have ADHD and take ADHD meds. The study shows that substance abuse does start more likely in older kids. Kids who were more likely to abuse drugs later on were reported to be 8 to 12 years old compared to those who are 6 or 7. People are going to the hospital, they are overdosing on these medications. They get it from friends, or steal it, and they can get addicted to it. This should not happen, and something has to be done about it. There is a problem with abusing and misusing ADHD prescription drugs. Many children have been diagnosed with Attention Deficit Hyperactive Disorder (ADHD), and the amount of those children being prescribed a medication for their disorder has grown largely in the last couple of years. This caused concern to arise in doctors; some of them went as far to say that most children diagnosed and treated for ADHD are really just immature and undisciplined (Koplewicz). Even if this is untrue, they say that the children would do better if treated with alternative options. Children diagnosed with ADHD are in serious distress, but not because of bad teaching or parenting. It is because their brains work differently than others, and they need to be treated properly.

The children wouldn 't be so out of control if their parents just applied discipline when they start acting up. “These days parents go to the internet, take self- administered surveys, and diagnose their children and choose a medication without ever stepping foot in a psychiatrist 's office” (Guelph Murphy 2006). Parents nowadays trust people on the internet more than a psychiatrist.
The three mental ailments associated with ADHD are inattentiveness, hyperactivity and impulsivity. Living with these conditions is no easy task. Anyone of those symptoms can individually lead to not having good grades, or even losing track of a simple conversation. Put all of them together and you have a dangerous mix that in undoubtably going to lead to poor school performance and an inept social life, if the proper means are not taken. Therefore, the effectiveness outweighs the risk when it comes to this medication, which in turn makes ADHD medication a promising and efficient treatment for children with attention deficit hyperactivity
Like permissive parents, authoritative parents are responsive, nurturing, and involved. But unlike permissive parents, authoritative parents don’t let their children get away with bad behaviour. Authoritative parents take a firm stand, anticipating that their kids should carry on dependably. Like tyrant guardians, legitimate guardians uphold rules. As a psychologist, I feel that authoritative parenting style helps in developing their social behaviour while authoritarian degrades it.
