There are laws to protect and make it legal by obtaining a license in the state in which an individuals is purchasing a gun but that do not stop the black market. Gun control laws and violence with in different states is a clear view that the gun control laws/bans are not really helpful in today’s society. I feel that the law did not abolish the black market of gun purchases therefore people are still purchasing guns illegally for what the state ban in the first place. Now for those individuals who have no criminal background and obtain a gun for recreational purposes (hunting or protection/depends on state laws) within that state then it is
“Campus Carry” as known by Georgia Southern University, should reduce its limits on where a person with a legal license to carry, should be able to have their weapon on campus. “Campus Carry” has restrictions on which building and places a person can and cannot carry a weapon on campus. Reducing the limits on where someone can carry a gun on campus can give the students a safer feel on campus knowing that they have safety in their classrooms. Students would be safer on campus knowing that someone can have a weapon in the classroom with them. That could also make students nervous, but not allowing legal licensed people to have a concealed weapon if dangerous.
The gun can only be carried on the waist line or shoulder. There are places in where you are not able to legally carry a gun regardless of being licensed. Some of these places are as follows: • Courts • School • Churches • passenger transportation vehicle of a school or educational institution • Secured areas in Airport • Racetrack • Places where criminal are being executed Although these areas are off limits to carrying openly or concealed guns, two signs must be posted are a verbal statement made telling everyone that this is a no gun zone. The two signs must be in English and Spanish.
This would encourage firearms dealers to only sell weapons so individuals they do not believe will commit a crime. In the state of Florida, and many other states mental health checks are not required when purchasing a firearm ("Possession of Firearms by People with Mental Illness"). Regardless of their mental state, if the dealer themselves choose to sell an obviously mentally ill person a firearm, they can. In many states, they do not require any live fire training before firing a firearm (Mascia, Jennifer). This means that even if you have never fired a weapon before, you will still have the ability to own a weapon that can take somebody 's
A constitutional right: Carrying firearms on college campuses The Second Amendment of the United States Constitution reads: "A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed. Due to the alarming increase of mass shootings and violence, which have occurred on colleges nationwide, many students, staff, and pro-gun activist have brought attention to the right of allowing concealed firearms on campus. Like other law abiding American citizens, they believe that they are entitled to protect their persons freely without their rights, which have been beautifully bestowed to them by the U.S. Constitution, to be limited or infringed upon. I believe that firearms should be allowed on college campuses.
Many reasons are held accountable for why guns are unacceptable on campus. More guns on campus rises the possibility for unaccredited access to firearms by the wrong people. The chance of the wrong person getting access to a “good guy’s” gun is a larger chance than the gun being used to save student and faculty lives. Guns can be accidentally left anywhere; in purses, jacket pockets, and lawful users can be outdo people outside of campus. Professors and faculty members are not taught to handle firearm combat in a characterized environment.
The Second Amendment was never actually intended for everyday citizens. In the writing of the amendment it states militia meaning that it was only intended for them to bear arms. Citizens have found easy access to the weapons that they use in their shootings. Therefore, guns are put into the wrong hands, which means gun regulations should be stricter and allow a more detailed background check with mental health evaluations. There have been gun purchases where there has been a flaw in the background check system, allowing mentally ill or irresponsible people to obtain guns.
Let's say that someone is walking down the hall in the middle of a school, then, all of a sudden a kid runs in and BOOM! Shots ring in their ears and they start to cry, looking around to see if they can find anyone else but all they see are dead bodies on the ground, covered in blood. Then, they look up at the end of the hall and there he is, holding a gun ready to shoot; what will they do? Run for their life? Then, for a moment this person closes their eyes and they wonder, why would someone do this?
Several studies mention that licensed concealed carry weapons aren’t involved in crimes that happen on campus. Certain individuals that do commit crimes on and off campus, generally don’t go through background checks to obtain legal concealed weapons. Gun permit requirements vary by state but most require that applicants are the legal minimum age, complete a safety course and have sound criminal and mental histories (Collins). Allowing students to carry concealed weapons on campus could be considered dangerous; however, having these students’ complete safety courses and go through testing that proves they are mentally capable could prevent it from being dangerous. Certain campuses also don’t allow students to carry conceal in classrooms or in dorms.
It is uncommon to see people carrying guns unless they are officers of the police department, the FBI or Secret Service for instance. With the new law in place, it seems like people will have free will to carry guns to the college without major restrictions. People might be afraid and they will try to avoid being close to those people when college is supposed to be a safe, trusting community. This may create a tense environment in any area within the college and of course within the classrooms. The Professors said they worry about inviting a student into their offices to talk about a failing grade if they think that the student is armed.
According to the second amendment of the constitution of the United States of America, the citizens have the right to possess and bear arms. This passage has been used for gun control advocates and gun control opponents alike; both parties agree that not all citizens should be allowed to own guns. People opposed to gun control legislation think that all upcoming legislations should be focused on mental health problems. They acknowledge that there is no gun problem in the U.S, we just have a cultural problem.
The rate of murder, robbery, and aggravated assault remain very below the national average, and has in a point decreased on college campuses at a faster rate than the national average. The objective of our state legislators should not be arming more individuals, but educating students at a younger age about the dangers of carrying concealed weapons, and need to teach individuals to respect each other. People assume that everyone with a concealed gun permit is well trained not so. Nowadays, Defenders of gun rights usually claim the requirements for concealed carry on campus mean only those interested in self-defense will be able to purchase them legally. Even if guns were ban or at least were difficult to buy, they argue, gunmen would continue to find ways to arm themselves leaving innocent students
Concealed Guns Imagine this you're a student at ISU and concealed guns are banned on college campus while you are in class the weird guy in the back pops up and starts shooting people in a few seconds your dead or injured but maybe if guns were allowed on college campus when the first shot went off you or someone else with a concealed gun could have shot the man and probably saved many people's life. Even though this is not a true story this has happened at other colleges around the united states. Well are concealed guns good or bad are they useful or not. People say concealed guns owners are a treat or dangerous. With all these people saying they don't help the community there dangres the owners are a treat.
Gun Control Policies The gun control or (firearms regulation) is a set of policies that regulate the modification, sale, manufacture, possession, transfer, or even the use of firearms by people. This policy was intended to limit the possession of a handgun to those who complete a background check and are cleared, and to those who have no mental illnesses. This would attempt to make sure that handguns do not end up in the hands of the wrong people, such as criminal, or those that have been convicted prior to these policies of gun abuse. With these policies in place it hopefully would cut down on gun violence.
