If the teacher seems like he or she is mad then the student will want to fix it so he or she will not get yelled at. Teachers also though have to be careful on what they say even though they need to be tough. The articles main point is to describe why tough teachers get good results. I do agree on everything the article said especially this “now I 'm not calling for abuse; I 'd be the first to complain if a teacher called my kids names”.
Utilizing instructional planning means being knoledgable of the national, state, and local curricula and standards. It means using all resources, strategies, and data to meet the needs of all students. Another sub area that is very important would be differentiated instruction. This means providing students with content that challenges then and helps them to excel to new levels. It also means acknowledging all the different ways students learn.
This leads to the controversy on whether universities are teaching the students what they need to be taught and how effective they are disciplining the students. In William Deresiewicz’s essay, he expresses that solitude is the very aspect of leadership. Solitude means being isolated from human interaction. Leadership means having the
Students are actively involved in the process of assessment as they assess the performance of their peers carrying out a particular task or skill. It has gained much importance in educational learning and educational research in recent times with several studies denoting this alternative form of assessment as extremely effective in improving learning in students (Patton & Marty-Snyder, 2014). It has also shown to help increase motivation and engagement levels, improve communication and self-regulation skill as well as helping to empower students (Azarnoosh, 2013; Harrison, O’hara, & McNamara, 2015; Karami & Rezaei, 2015). One example of a type of peer assessment is a check list handout.
It utilizes the teacher’s authority over his students to the maximum and leaves little room for argument. “Hostile teachers view students as adversaries, they feel if they are to maintain order and teach properly, they must keep the upperhand… ”(Charles, p.36).Teachers who use this method of disciplining are usually described to be very strict or scary and usually have very silent and passive students during
Games are the greatest wellspring of amusement around the globe. There are numerous games in America, yet baseball is our distraction. Baseball is the thing that began America's enthusiasm for games, and a large number of individuals love the game right up 'til today. A ball game is an exceptionally uncommon occasion. Going to a diversion makes you understand that baseball truly is more than an amusement.
Christmas is traditionally seen as an annual religious event to commemorate the birth of Jesus Christ but has increasingly become a substantial part of society and culture as a whole - celebrated in more than 160 countries by more than two billion Christians and non-Christians (O’Brien, 2016). Consumer spending during the Christmas period is more substantial in some countries compared to others – for example the average British family spends £821.25 during the Christmas period compared to the European average of £532 (Clarke, 2017) - but consumption during the lead up to the Christmas period is second to no none on the retail calendar in many countries around the world. The festive period of Christmas not only brings about staples and motifs
Gender Variation in my classroom discourse. Now a day, Education is becoming in one of the most crucial factors into an individual’s life where the society points out how someone behaves, acts and relates with others. It shows how talented and wise a person is. Into a classroom, there is a wide diversity among students where teacher should take advantage of it and might learn to manage it, understand it and respect it because learners come from different personal and cultural backgrounds. When a teacher comes in a classroom, he is getting immerse into an environment which its reality sometimes can be a big challenge to work with.
Emotional Intelligence development serves two broad purposes. Recognizing and responding to the feelings of oneself and that of students in the classroom and to encourage the emotional state in the learners that is conducive to learning. Emotionally intelligent teachers have a successful relationship with others; they can manage any conflicting situation easily and channel their emotions towards the goal. EI develops creativity, emotional literacy, self-understanding, communication skill and leadership skill in teachers and helps them to produce socially acceptable objectives and be a valued and productive member of the
Some researchers assert that this problem must be external and is mostly teachers’ responsibility. First of all, according to Gökçe DİŞLEN, most of the time students lose their interest and enthusiasm towards language learning due to insecure classroom atmosphere and pedagogues’ harsh attitude (2013). Bad tempered and strict teachers tend to not only make students feel uncomfortable but also themselves. Furthermore, educators must make lessons more appealing though different activities, give constant positive feedback and encourage students to learn a
If a student is not making adequate progress, they try other interventions or ways of implementing instruction to help students to progress. Outstanding educators are flexible and can think quickly, they are able to adjust lessons to meet the needs and address the learning styles of their students as necessary. An outstanding teacher is firm but fair when disciplining students. These educators are always aware of what is going on in their classrooms and monitor situations as needed to quickly and effectively keep things from getting out of control. Outstanding educators get to know their students, and show them respect and kindness.
Because of the pressure it puts on the taker, many people believe that it should be completely abolished; this however is a total over reaction to the situation. Yes it is true that a very important test can cause stress, but we would not have to be taking it if it was not important. standardized testing it an essential tool for judging a student skill level. If it was removed it would allow people who are not cut out or not ready for collage to enter collage, this would cause a fault to form in the education system that could be detrimental to the future generations. Tests are a part of learning; they are used to find out if a student has retained the information that has been given to them.
In the article, “School Slams Door on Santa” written by Todd Starnes, a Connecticut school has placed a ban on all religious symbols, including Christmas trees and Santa Claus. At the Fairfield Ludlowe High School, there is a door decorating contest yearly and many students and teachers are excited to participate. In one of the classrooms, many students produced ideas including a Christmas tree and a “Santa Claus-inspired fireplace design”. Both ideas had gotten rejected by the teacher, leaving many students confused on why they could not use their non-offensive and creative ideas. Starnes hear the drama from a friend whose child goes to the high school so he decides to call the headmaster, Greg Hatzis to confirm the accusations.
A book about teenage brainiacs isn’t complete without a chapter dedicated to the SAT. As author Alexandra Robbins explained the history and composition of the test, she also shared with readers different types of learning methods students use to absorb what they are taught in the classroom. Two of these methods included the surface achieving method and the deep approach. The first focuses on the memorization of facts while the latter pertains to truly understanding the subject. “The study found that the higher-scoring students were those who used the surface and achieving approaches, while the lower-scoring students were more likely to use the deep approach, their love of learning unrewarded by the SAT” (Robbins 291).
Accelerated education programs must be fueled with many components for the system to run smoothly. These various components must have the students as the main focus to be successful. Additionally, the accelerated education model will not work unless teachers and students are on the same page with their personal goals. When there is poor classroom management , no teacher support, and poor student effort the model will fail. Going to an accelerated education school with poor student effort and poor teacher support will not help your child succeed, if anything it will hold them back.
