Having many leadership experiences and serving on multiple committees where working with students and administration is necessary, I believe that I am well prepared to become a Resident Assistant. These committees include my high school’s Discipline Committee, where I worked with administration to provide fair and rehabilitate punitive actions to students, along with the Duke Student Health Advisory Committee, where I work with other students to advise the Student Health office and to develop projects that benefit student health on campus. In addition, I have gained many useful leadership skills from becoming an Eagle Scout, especially after organizing and leading a large

I became very close with one of the Resident Assistants on my floor because it just happened that we would always run into each other in the hallway whether it was 4pm or 2am. We would just sit in the corridor and talk for sometimes hours with other residents joining in on the conversation. While I’ve tried to connect with all of the RAs in the dorm, some just don’t spend a lot of time in our community which makes it hard for them to have a strong positive influence on the residents. If I become an RA I will lead my residents by example. One of my close friends from Pegram is also applying to be an RA and we are both very close with the RAs in Pegram who plan to return next year. I think that all of our very caring personalities paired with our qualities of holding people accountable for their actions has the potential of providing an amazing residential community next
Thank you for taking the time to review my personal statement on why I have chosen to embark on the journey to become a Physician Assistant. My story started several years ago, more than I care to count, when I stumbled into the health care world as a paramedic in rural Pennsylvanian. While in high school, I became friends with several other students who were actively volunteering with a local fire department. After hearing their stories about the things they were learning and doing I also joined a volunteer fire department, mostly out of curiosity. Over the course of a couple of years I discovered that the challenges that I encountered during training and responding to emergencies had unlocked some unrealized, more like unknown, drive inside

Holding an RHA position requires a plethora of skills in leadership, personal balance, academic balance, professional balance, and communication. Currently I am seeking a future in the Resident Assistant (RA) positon which will allow me to learn and utilize these skills when providing conflict resolution and creating relationships within my hall. In order to get a better understanding of many different aspects that go into being an RA, I interviewed a current RA named Bayleigh____ and asked her about the several different factors that relate to her personal life and the job itself. Resident Assistants serve many purposes and play many roles in the community. They help to build and promote a supportive and active community within their residence hall and across the campus, and offer support and guidance to their residents. This aids in making Geneseo feel more like home and a community rather than simply a school. RAs enforce Geneseo and Department of Student Life rules, while also being a more easily accessible and less intimidating resource to other students in need of help. I want to be an RA so that I can become more involved in the Geneseo community in a positive way, by helping and representing other students.

I am the employee that is the first to arrive to work and last to leave, the student who picks up the slack when other group members don’t hold up their end of the assignment, the friend that is always there when you call on them, and the mentor that will do anything to ensure my mentee is always at his/her best. Reflecting all of these attributes is my only weakness; always going above and beyond without reward although it may go unnoticed and sometimes can be exhausting. It is a passion of mine to extend a helping hand to others and watch others grow to reach their full potential as I have. Hopefully, I will be that Residential Assistant that residents feel that they can call on whether I am on or off the clock. In terms of strengths, I will examine two strengths outside of the cliché hardworking, critical thinking, and professional strengths commonly named.
