My ambition of becoming a nurse originates from when my father suffered a stroke; this was an extremely difficult time for my family. The nurses that took care my father truly inspired me to follow this wonderful career path. They were a tremendous team of professionals who treated my father with kindness and compassion, making his time in hospital a smooth one. They certainly inspired me to follow my dream of helping vulnerable people. I want to become a nurse to provide support, reassurance, and top quality care for people from all ages and backgrounds. I believe that a BSc in Adult Nursing will allow me to develop my existing skills and experience.

I am multilingual, having fluent Somali, English, Swahili and read and write Arabic and Spanish, which must be asset in an increasingly international world. I like to keep myself up to date by reading The Nursing Times and The International Journal of Nursing and Midwifery. I also volunteered as an ESL assistant teacher and worked with many groups of women who could not read or write. They often asked me to go with them to hospital appointments to interpret for them. I vigorously educate women and girls in my community about the dangers of FGM. I particularly enjoy women integrating into society. It brings me joy to know that I have made a difference in someone else’s life.
I know that there will be challenges ahead, but I have the faith, potential and determination to reach my vision of becoming a nurse. I also believe that nursing is highly competitive, and rewarding at the same time. Most importantly, with my pre-existing experience, and through hard work and ambition I am determined to make my passion of becoming a BSc Adult Nursing into a
My childhood initiated a desire to help prevent and mitigate injury or illness; this soon flourished into an interest in the health care field. To help narrow my choices I explored as many science courses as I could. Talking with health care professionals and reading nursing textbooks I found in my aunt’s house piqued my interest in the nursing field and patient care. From there, I completed a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) course which further solidified my decision. Now, I am fully invested in becoming a nurse.
I am a registered nurse and currently hold an associates degree. I am actively enrolled in TESU working towards my Bachelors of Science in Nursing (BSN) which is the degree most employers seek when hiring nurses. Once I have earned my BSN, which will be in the summer of 2016, my plan is to then take certain certification courses. I am very passionate about learning wound, ostomy and incontinence care (WOC) and will take the classes and state exams I need to earn my certification shortly after graduating TESU. Wound, ostomy and incontinence care needs are growing, especially in the home care setting, and this will allow me to apply for positions that are more tailored to what I wish to specialize in.
Returning to college as an adult learner is a difficult decision at best. Consequently, it is somewhat like deciding to have a child. When is the right time, what is the right circumstance, can I afford the additional expenses and how will I bear the additional responsibility? Becoming complacent with a career as an Associate Degree Registered Nurse, focusing on family and life, instead of earning a Bachelor of Science Degree would be the easy option.
In 1993, I completed my Bachelor’s degree in Nursing in the Philippines where I began my career as a medical-surgical nurse. Migrating into this country in 1995 was the catalyst to the nurse
I am a firm believer that in order to be happy and successful, you need to have a job that you love to do. This ideology is what motivated me to want to become a nurse practitioner and help the people in my community. Attending California State University, Los Angeles is allowing me to pursue my academic goal of getting into the nursing program. I aspire to get my bachelors of science in nursing to be able to become a registered nurse. After gaining experience as a registered nurse, I will pursue a master of science in nursing to become a nurse practitioner.
I have decided to pursue nursing and apply for the second degree accelerated nursing program; I consider myself a highly motivated individual with a value of strong work ethic. I can certainly distinguish myself as a person with numerous interests, a range of skills and goals. My Goals are to become a highly skilled nurse, work for the united state military and help save lives. Just like my father, I would love to provide a great humanitarian service, not for the pay or the glory or the recognition but to save lives, give hope, provide care, love and touch
I was not born into the world to do everything, but I was born into the world with great intentions; intentions to make a difference, to be an outstanding leader, ambassador, and advocate to serve and give back to the society. Ever since I have known myself, I have always wanted to become a nurse. A hardship that has made me stronger is, after my first semester in the pre-nursing
There is a high significance for a nursing student completing their degree in nursing to start their career as a nurse practitioner. Nursing students must prepare to become nationally certified by an accredited body upon completion of their schooling in order to advance their career (AANP, 2016). This academic accreditation process helps to show that the students have met the requirements to practice as a Nurse Practitioner in their population focus testing. The scope of practice will be affected based on the certification that the practitioner obtains. If the Nurse Practitioner obtains a certification as a nurse specialists in pediatrics, oncology, geriatrics, emergency medicine, etc.
Being very goal orientated I have many goals for my future nursing career. One specific short term goal would be having the honor to get accepted into the one school I have always dreamed of attending, Allen College, to earn my Bachelor of Science in Nursing Degree. Once I am accepted to a nursing program a goal I feel very strongly about is continuing to keep my grade point average at a 3.8 or higher level. I plan to accomplish this goal by completely applying myself and my time to my program, only letting my dedication for nursing continue to grow, and getting as involved as possible in my school and my learning. Most importantly, my short term goal is to obtain my Bachelor of Science in Nursing Degree and get a job at The University of Iowa

The one person who always told me I can do whatever I wanted in life was my mom. My mom was my number one supporter, and always told everyone how excited she was for me to fulfill my dreams of becoming a nurse. My mom would always tell me “Sam all your dreams can come true if you just believe in your self”. The days I questioned myself, and thought to myself is nursing really for me, I always thought of those exact
As a child, I dreamed of acquiring a career in Nursing. I was always fascinated by the amount of respect that nurses received during my doctor visits throughout my childhood. There are many reasons why I chose to major in Nursing such as the ability to take care of someone, the money and benefits that the career offered, as well as job stability and flexibility. On of my main reasons for pursing Nursing is the ability to care for someone other than myself.
I want to become a nurse, to be able to provide qualified and quality healthcare to this emerging era. I want to give back to my community and to Nigeria. I want to know the basic and be fearless in my work just as my mother was, I want to be professional and efficient in my work. I want to leave an impact on anyone I come across in my work and help those in need. I feel that the University of Texas Austin School Of Nursing will be the best place to kick-start my career.
It always has given me great joy helping others to be happy or feel better about themselves in any way possible. So it made sense for me to go into college as a Nursing major. My mom has always been a huge inspiration in my life, so it made sense to me to strive to be a nurse just like her.
