In the technologically advanced era of today, the world has become smaller. People now have the ability to connect with someone halfway across the world with the simple keystroke. For this reason, I have decided that it is imperative to not only better myself as a member of a more culturally aware society, but also as a student. As it turns out, the best way to achieve both of these goals at once comes in the form of studying abroad. Having the chance to study abroad while in college is invaluable in today’s society because as the world continues to become more connected it pays to have that experience under your belt.
I chose the CEA Medical Spanish and Health Sciences program because I am a Spanish major with a Pre-Medical focus, and this program would allow me to take my major to the next level by giving me exposure to a type of environment that I hope to be working in one day. After obtaining my undergraduate degree, I plan on going to medical school in order to become a pediatrician, and having the opportunity to go to Costa Rica to enhance my pre-medical experience as well as my overall educational experience is priceless. The program offers a wide variety of activities and opportunities that

Veritas University provides diverse course options in my field of study that are catered more to the learning experience in Costa Rica. I am particularly hoping to take the course that focuses on the health care system in Costa Rica. I think it will be more beneficial to be in the place I’m studying in order to for the lessons to really sink in. Also, because Spanish is a language that I love, as well as it being my major, I anticipate becoming more fluent in the language. I believe that because I will be using it on a day-to-day basis with both native speakers and other students that are still learning as well, I will be able to learn at a faster pace than I would here in the
After spending months preparing patient education programs and petitioning resources and healthcare professionals, I spent a week working in the underdeveloped, impoverished Darien region of Southern Panama. Those enriching days affirmed my strong intent to serve the Hispanic population domestically or internationally during my career. One of the important factors in selecting OSU’s NP program is the opportunity to provide care to Spanish speaking patients through the ISLL program. Either of my desired specialties provides students this professional
My goal is to become a primary doctor working with underserved communities, especially the Latino community. My work and volunteer experience and my professional goal are committed to provide service to the community with cultural competence, diversity and service orientation. CMSRU humanistic education in the art and science of medicine will complement these life experiences, characteristics, as well as my professional and personal interests and goals. As a medical student at CMSRU I will be able to receive an excellent education in patient care, will feel included in the CMSRU community, will share and strengthen my professionalism, collaborative and and civic responsibility skills. The mission and core values of CMSRU match my interests,
The curriculum followed in your program is intriguing, as it allows various clinical clerkships, sub-internships, and generous opportunities for electives, out-of state and global experiences. I am particularly interested in the clinical and global opportunities that your school offers. Sanford School of Medicine’s Scholarship Pathways Program is an invaluable program that provides students an avenue for gaining knowledge and research experience outside of the classroom. I really enjoyed learning more about the program during my interview with Dr. Zeigler. The Frontier and Rural Medicine program available to your students is a unique opportunity, offering insight and experiences in the full spectrum of rural medicine.
My academic goals after I graduated from UC Irvine is to achieve a higher education beyond a Bachelor of Science in Public Health Sciences. I have set going to dental school as a primary goal after graduating. My goal is to eventually obtain a D.D.S (Doctor of Dentist Surgery) degree. Working towards a specialty is an interest that I am very curious in pursuing; however, as of now becoming a general dentist is my main goal. What factor(s) made you interested in studying in the Biological/Biomedical School:
The International Summer Camps are very enlightening because they have allowed me to not only be healthy and take part in physical activity; but to embrace my culture, assist youth in acknowledging the importance of education, take part in team oriented workshops, and listen to key speakers that overcame great adversity. I have learned about the importance of assisting others and placing a grin on another person’s face, which is my primary motive for becoming a family practitioner. I have a desire to major in biology, minor in public health, and declare pre-med and I will continue to place forth my utmost effort as I embark on my
I chose TTUHSC SOM because of the ability to learn medicine in a place that values the art of patient care in its foundation as well as the ability to do anything I hope to do in medicine guided by the strength of its mission and the care that TTUHSC SOM provides for its students. I would like to conduct my medical career in a setting that converges between urban and rural settings. My parents brought their strong work ethic from Ghana, cultivated on their family’s farms, to Austin, Texas where it was critical in encouraging my own desire to work in close contact with a diverse population of patients. My experiences in the communities I’ve lived in and health care have provided me with the insight to work within both types of areas. My most prominent experiences in health care have come from working in clinics that serve underserved populations.
While in this program I wish to develop a stronger sense of my passion and field for science and to find a pathway that I would like to go on. While learning I also wish to get to know peers and companions and to socialize and make connections with my fellow peers. One of the pathways that I would like to go on at this moment is I would like to go on the medical pathway and become an oncologist which is a doctor for the study of cancer. Doctors play such a vital role in our everyday
Currently, I am a member of the Dual Language Honors program at Miami Dade College. Through this wonderful program I have been involved in rigorous classes that challenged my understanding of the world. I also engaged in a bilingual and bicultural environment. Furthermore, I developed leadership skills and truly discover my passion for medicine. Now that I am transferring to complete my Bachelor education in Biology with a minor in Chemistry, I am highly interested in obtaining an education that will complement my knowledge and prepare me to succeed in my field of study.
My top interest at school is The Academy of Health Professions. This rigorous program gives classroom instructions, hands on laboratory, and clinical experience. As a class of 17 students, we volunteer at the local clinical to get experience as Certified Nursing Assistants. Every other class, I take the role of an adult for 2 hours and become a CNA. I provide my patients with oral care, bathing, feeding, and changing linen.
I am incredibly curious, capable, and passionate when it comes to the fields of science and medicine. I can only imagine myself operating in a profession where I get to make direct, tangible contributions to people and bettering their lives. My identity is first and foremost defined by my faith as a Seventh Day Adventist, and second by my family and community. The Loma Linda PA Program can allow me to become the embodiment of all that I value: a highly-trained medical professional that can use her faith and medical training to consistently serve their community with compassion and
There is an old Moorish proverb that reads, “He who does not travel, does not know the value of man.” That quote resonates deep within me because I have a yearning to use my education to empower those in need. In order to do so, I need to see and experience the world outside of the one I am accustomed to. Curiosity is one of the traits that define the person that I am; because of this trait I always ask questions about the world around me and the people I meet. This is one of the driving forces behind my desire to venture outside of the United States to learn a new language and culture.
Keira Williams is a leader for the program that connects people to study abroad opportunities and how to prepare for an interconnecting world. She experienced the effect of global education first hand, when she traveled out of the country, to China, for the first time. She believed the experience of being a “fish out of water” was a very grounding and humbling experience (Appendix A). Her trip led her to believe in two significant processes a person should learn when young and inexperienced. The idea is to appreciate both “confidence and humility” (Appendix A).
Ever since grade school, I was passionate about working in the field of medicine, and science. I enjoyed anatomy, medical spelling and terminology, and reading about the healthcare industry. Because of my passion for healthcare, I decided to to attend Health Sciences High. There, I was given the best opportunities, such as, medical internships and college health courses. My plans and goals had turned me into a mature young adult.
The reason why I want to be in the Health Career Pathway at Chase High School, for future careers. I have been not sure about what I wanted to be when I grew up. I was wanting to go into the medical field but was not sure about it. I did not know what it was about or like what areas I wanted to be in or anything. 2016 summer I was accepted into the Teen Volunteer Program at Rutherford Regional Hospital.
