Bonnie and Clyde “Possibly the most famous and most romanticized criminals in American history, Bonnie Parker and Clyde Barrow were two young Texans whose early 1930s crime spree forever imprinted them upon the national consciousness” (McGasko). This couple committed almost all their crimes together. They never left each other's sides. They had a hard life trying to outrun the police. Their life of crime was during the Great Depression (McGasko). Bonnie and Clyde impacted history and were a big part of it. Bonnie Parker and Clyde Barrow were a couple that started a gang called the Barrow Gang and committed many crimes doing so. Some of their crimes resulted in injury or even murder (McGasko). Clyde’s brother who was apart of the Barrow Gang got sent to jail and Clyde bailed him out. There was a shooting with the police and Clyde’s brother was shot and killed. When other members of the Barrow Gang were captured Bonnie and Clyde went on without them. The police set a trap to capture Bonnie and Clyde and caught them. After being caught they escaped and killed 2 police officers (Bonnie and Clyde). Bonnie also was married before she met Clyde. Bonnie’s husband was in jail when she met Clyde. Meanwhile, right after Bonnie and Clyde met Clyde got sentenced to 14 years in prison. He served 1 year in prison before his mother bailed him out (McGasko). “ Bonnie and Clyde and the Barrow Gang lived a hard, uneasy life punctuated by narrow escapes, bungled robberies, injury, and murder”(McGasko). News spread quickly about Bonnie and Clyde’s life of crimes. Most of the crimes were committed by Clyde and the Barrow Gang, Bonnie would sometimes drive the getaway car for the gang. Bonnie and Clyde were shot and killed immediately. They were shot multiple times on May 23, 1934. They tried driving away but were shot and killed. Clyde was wanted by the police, for many reasons (Bonnie and Clyde). “Barrow was suspected of numerous killings and was wanted for murder, robbery, and state charges of kidnapping”(McGasko). While running from the police Bonnie and Clyde would stay at state borders. They did this so the police couldn’t chase them through the different states. Bonnie and Clyde didn’t fear the police (McGasko). People thought their life of outrunning the police was a luxury. But the reality of that was hard and uneasy. “Who didn’t fear the police and lived a life of glamorous luxury outrunning them.”(McGasko) While Clyde was driving he wrecked and got battery acid all over Bonnie’s leg. Clyde carried Bonnie to a nearby farm to see if they could help. They couldn’t go to a hospital because they would get caught by the police. Bonnie got help from the farmer's wife and later healed but never healed fully. Bonnie and Clyde stole a car and she was taking the medicine in the car for her leg.
