Why Is Cesar Chavez Important

Cesar Chavez is an important figure in the American History. He was a migrant worker, civil rights activist, and labor leader who did so much to get the rights that the workers deserved. Chavez has done so much remarkable stuff and he sacrificed so much to make it happen, to make the union one. He hanged on to hope and never gave up until he got what he wanted. Became such an inspiration to so many and an example for people who want to make a difference.
Cesar Chavez started as a labor organizer in 1952 and was recruited in the Community Service Organization by Fred Ross. But five years later he had become the national director, but later on in 1962 he had resigned to commit his vigor to organizing a union for the farm workers. Farm Workers

Especial when their were so many trying to go against them, like the Delano area table and and also the wine grape growers. Their was protesting years because of the poor pay and conditions they were obligated to be in. Before all this Cesar Chavez family owned a farm and a grocery store, but it was all lost in the Great Depression. After that many things happen so they moved to California where they worked as migrant farm workers. Cesar quit school in the 7th grade so his mother did not have to work in the fields, and because of that he became a migrant farm worker. The movement that he inspired managed to succeed and raised salaries and improved the working conditions for the farm workers in California, Florida, Texas, and Arizona. So in order to make this happen he fasted, he was willing to sacrifice his own life. The unions was falling apart because the farm workers thought they could solve the problem with violence, but Cesar wanted to show them that that was not a way. It was not just one time that Cesar Chavez fasted, it was many times. He fasted in 1968 with only water for 25 days, in 1972 for 24 days, and in 1988 for 36 days. Cesar did so much to prove to people that violence was not a choice, with persistence, faith, a lot of hard work, and the importance of wanting things to change.
