Jordan Baker was a rich and famous woman known for being an amazing golfer. Daisy was attempting to get Tom and Jordan together. She seems like a very selfish person; She doesn’t really care if her actions affect others, such as when she said, “It takes two to make an accident"(58). Though Nick and Jordan do have a relationship, it last for a very short amount of time. When Nick decides that he wants to leave New York and go to the Midwest, he wants to say goodbye to Jordan before leaving and to go over what happened to their relationship. The meeting doesn’t go as planned because Jordan was quite rude and was upset he broke up with her over the phone; she also made sure to let him know that she no longer cares about him. Overall, Jordan’s most important role in the story was helping Daisy get closer to
Firstly, being selfless and accommodating to others needs and wants is not something that the society in this time period can be proud of. Daisy, Tom and Gatsby develop the trait of selfishness in many ways throughout the novel. Daisy Buchanan is a wealthy woman who lives in the East egg and is married to Tom Buchanan. Tom, Daisy, Gatsby, Jordan and Nick all go to town when Tom and Gatsby break into an argument because Tom finds out that Gatsby and Daisy are having an affair. Gatsby tells Tom the truth about Daisy and himself because Tom bombards him with questions when he says, “’She never loves you, do you hear?’
There may be many despicable characters in The Great Gatsby, by F. Scott Fitzgerald, but Daisy Buchanan is a main character that causes feuds between not only Jay Gatsby and Tom Buchanan, Tom being her husband and Gatsby being the one she falls in love with, but Myrtle Wilson and George Wilson. Daisy is by far the most disappointing character in the book, because she leaves her child to be raised by nannies, which includes her having an affair, ends up killing someone without taking the blame, and she never shows up to Gatsby’s funeral. Daisy might have loved Tom at one point, but she really never wanted to marry him. When Gatsby comes into the picture, she instantly is overwhelmed with Gatsby’s devotions towards her.

The Great Gatsby Appearance vs Reality The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald is about how a man by the name of Jay Gatsby tries to win the heart of Daisy Buchanan, the woman he loves. The entirety of The Great Gatsby is told through the narrator, Nick Carraway. At first, Nick views the lifestyle of Jay Gatsby, Tom Buchanan and Daisy Buchanan in awe, but soon discovers that these people are not who they appear. Fitzgerald uses his characters and literary devices in The Great Gatsby to demonstrate the theme of appearance versus reality.
The Great Deception For a multitude of people in this generation, the concept of a “mask” has become an integral part of their lives. Whether that mask be in the form of layers of makeup, an anonymous name on a message board online, a fake social media account; it doesn’t matter. A mask is simply a mask, in the end; a false front used to conceal imperfections. In the novel, The Great Gatsby, a fair accumulation of characters don “masks” throughout the course of the plot to do just this, including the likes of Myrtle Wilson, Jay Gatsby, and Jordan Baker.
The Negative Influence of Wealth Wealth and prosperity are the core of living a lavish lifestyle and having a successful life. However, money can influence people into debauchery. In the book, The Great Gatsby, F. Scott Fitzgerald introduces to us to some of the dangers of being rich. Most people in the Great Gatsby were very privileged, and they lived a lavish lifestyle.
Nick and Daisy experienced a closeness when they were reunited with each other, but people change and choices in their pasts were uncovered and led Daisy to abandon a true friend. After losing Daisy in a miserable situation he also lost Jordan due to nearly the same issues. Jordan did not see Nick for who he truly was anymore and when she decided to give up on their relationship she did so and never looked back. “... Nick declares that after returning from the East he "wanted the world to be in uniform and at a sort of moral attention forever", he connects the war with cynical, guilty, disapproval of the New York...
Social Breakdown in The Great Gatsby Women can achieve what they want using their intelligence, but men treat them in a way that makes them feel worth less than they actually do or are unable to do things because of that. “The thing that women have yet to learn is nobody gives you power. You just take it.” (Roseanne Barr). Women’s surroundings and the way they are treated affects their decisions and behavior.
Throughout the novel, The Great Gatsby, by F. Scott Fitzgerald, the affairs of Tom with Myrtle, and Daisy with Gatsby show that one must think before they act. Based on the novel The Great Gatsby, we see that some people in the 1920’s did what was convenient for themselves, whether it was the right thing or the wrong thing to do. People within the novel never thought about the consequences of their careless actions. We have all heard the phrase, “Think, before you act!” This statement would have gone a long way to the characters within the novel if they followed it.
It is true that Daisy had loved Gatsby once, but it was all in the past. After Gatsby left to go to war, Daisy fell in love with Tom Buchanan. The reasons why Daisy married Tom was part of her love for him and the other part is because she loves the social position she is in when she is with Tom. Gatsby failed not because he was killed, but because Daisy’s love for Tom can not be changed with material things. All of the main characters have ideas for the perfect life and none were able to achieve them.
Daisy and the Devil she was Turned Into The Great Gatsby is one of the best works of literature because of the many complex characters that are present. One of the most controversial characters in the book is Daisy Buchanan. At the beginning of the book, I thought Daisy would be a very minor character and would have little or no impact in the book. After I finished the book, I realized she had an impact; however, I still did not think she had a huge role in the novel.
