Success and family should be the most important values in one's life. Success can be seen as a value in The Great Gatsby with many characters, and family can be seen as a value in The Hunger Games.

An example of why success should be one of the most important values is in Harry Potter. One of the main characters Hermoine values success the whole time she was at Hogwarts. She was one of the characters who always knew what she wanted and how to go about it. She studies so that she knew what she learning about before she learned about it. While Hermoine values success, she is always sure about herself. She may question herself as everyone else does, but she never holds herself to a higher or lower standard. In the first book during one of the first scenes Katniss Everdeen the main character volunteers as tribute to take her sister Prim's position in the games. Katniss could not lose her sister so she volunteered to take her sister's place. As the book goes on Katniss uses her family as motivation to not give up. Damily is there for one no matter what and they always will be. When one values family, friends, and love are also being valued. It is important to value the things and people around one because they keep one there and alive. Family protects one another. In the book, Peeta values his new family. His new family is his friends whom he gained throughout the experience of the games. In the second book, Peeta replaces Haymitch in the "retrial" of the games. He protects his friend and family by taking his spot.
