In 2010, over three thousand people lost their lives due to the carelessness of others. These innocent people died because they were too distracted with their phones or other distractions rather than paying attention to the road. While driving, people have to pay attention to the road. There are other drivers, traffic signs, pedestrians, and many other obstacles to be aware of. The effects of distracted driving are car accidents, traffic violations, and long-term emotional issues.
To text and drive is not a good reason to keeps your eyes off the road. Yet, is has become a really bad habit teens, and adults have gotten. It has caused a lot of deaths to many people in the world. Every day, millions of people get into their cars, which in return, subjects them into the vulnerable, and quite possible, position of getting pulled over. For many of those who have had to experience the nerve-wracking feeling of getting pulled over by a regular cop, there is only one thing society has made them dread more; getting pulled over by a cop riding a motorcycle. The feelings of hostility and resentfulness towards motorcycle cops are mainly due to the habitually negative misconceptions society has bestowed upon them. Although related, misconceptions are not to be confused with stereotypes. Stereotypes are the truthfully held, yet oversimplified, idea of a particular group of people.
Have you ever lost a loved one due to those dramatic accidents? Places in the world, tons of people die from distracted driving. While there are many people you think that might not be distracted, you’ll even be in that position where an accident happens in a blink of an eye without even knowing. About 1,000 people in the U.S are injured every day. Crashes claim more lives than you think which is a big problem in the world.
These have a great effect on people’s work as there are many cars in the big cities so it makes it difficult to reach work at time. Actually the traffic jam wastes precious time of people just sitting in the car waiting for time to pass and for the cars to even move. Traffic jam makes it even difficult for people to walk and for some people who have sidewalk-to-sidewalk travel. Too many cars in a big city just makes it difficult for people to walk on a pavement and just get annoyed by the sound of the cars which is also noise pollution. Another important issue that even students get late to their school and everything will not be in time.
Our highways are dangerous in and of themselves because of the number of vehicles and drivers on the roadways, poor roads and weather conditions, therefore adding any other distractors more than triple the dangers. Some will disagree, but the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) reports that texting and driving is the number one killer of teens in the United States. Is Texting and driving the new addiction, is it the leading cause of deaths on our nation 's’ highways, and is there a solution? Texting and driving is an addiction according to Dave Simon “it appears that addiction is no longer just about drugs, alcohol, junk food, or tobacco. The inability to disconnect or postpone an activity is an addition.” Simon further states that “distracted driving lessons appear to be the norm if we are to believe a new survey done by State Farm and reported by USA Today”.
Though laws have helped prevent cell phone use while operating a vehicle, cell phones still have only greatened the number of distracted driving accidents. Susan Henneberg is an author who focuses on writing about common issues in society. After hearing of a fatal distracted driving accident, she wrote of the accident, “The impact [of the crash] spun their car sideways into Shaw’s lane, and the trailing pickup truck plowed into the side of the Saturn, killing both men instantly”(Henneberg). Both of these drivers were physically hurt all because of texting and driving. This crash is just one of the millions of deadly crashes caused by texting and driving that happen every year.
When on the road make sure you are taking all the necessary precautions while driving, to not only keep yourself but everyone around you. Driving distracted isn’t only texting and driving, it is anything that takes your attention away from your primary task. Don’t let yourself be a candidate for an AT&T commercial about distracted driving. Lives can be changed forever in a matter of seconds, don’t let it be your
There are numerous cases that involve a person getting hurt or worse, killed, because there was a driver being distracted. Clearly, the government and lawmakers need to create stronger laws to eliminate all distractions that cause deadly car accidents which mainly involve teenagers. “People texting worries me more than people calling people because texting is more dangerous than talking on the phone because you can pay more attention to the road when talking than texting... a ninth- tenth grade boy stated, when you are on the phone you are not aware on what is going on” (Madden and Lenhart 2-3). Places that banned hand held phones are still having trouble enforcing the law because other individuals try to hide their phones and still be on them while driving. “18 states and the District of Columbia have passed the laws banning texting while driving” (Hanes 5).
On a daily basis, people of all ages die or end up in critical medical cases due to motor vehicle crashes that involve an alcohol- impaired driver. I argue that drivers should not consume alcohol as it contains harmful substances such as ethanol which affects our senses and visibility thus causing car accidents, illnesses and
Maybe when talking on the phone you 're still able to watch the road, but your focus is on who is talking to and what they 're talking about. If an argument starts, becoming upset will only cause your driving to be worse. Hundreds of accidents are caused daily by talking on the phone. Driving while emotional isn 't a good idea to begin with and adding cell phone use to the mix makes it even worse. In conclusion using cell phones while driving should be illegal in all states.
We all see the commercials about people that get in a crash and die from using their cellphones while driving. Although most drivers feel that they are to good of drivers and that could never happen to them. Many drivers still do this without thinking of the outcome of this foolish act. Driving and using cellphone or handheld device kills many drivers each day. Some states are making it illegal to using this device while driving.
As a society we have many distracted drivers who are among the leading causes of fatal and serious injury crashes. Texting has now become a way of life, which includes texting and driving causing people to lose their life’s just because you can’t wait to communicate with others. However, while texting I think there should be some sort of law that would protect us from the anxious people who choose to text when it is unsafe. Safety should always be our first priority when the thought of texting comes to mind. Some people have just taken texting completely out of content with no regards for others.
