Jackie Robinson's number, 42, was retired by Major League Baseball on April 15, 1997, the 50th anniversary of Robinson’s breaking of the league’s color barrier. It was the first number to be retired from all teams in Major League Baseball. He did not only do that he opened many good opportunities for african american not only in sports. I think Jackie robinson was the most important because he was the first african american mlb player and he did all this other stuff like being the first african american sports analyst and he did not only help african americans with sports he also helped them by donating and participating in rallies and he was there when marther luther king jr gave his speech. To begin with after jackie robinson joined the mlb 4 more after him joined the same year. People did not think it was possible to have one african american join the mlb but to have 4 that was amazing. In addition Jackie Robinson was the first Black television sports analyst serving as a commentator for ABC’s baseball broadcasts during the 1965 season. He showed african american they can join the mlb on top of that he showed they could also sport analyzer he had a huge impact on african american with everything. They thought that Jackie Robinson was not good enough for the mlb. They also thought that Jackie Robinson was a bad guy and would get into fights. Even though jackie robinson had a quick trigger and fought sometimes he would also keep calm and ignore the fans.However jackie robinson was one of the best players of all time people also at that time would call him racial names and he stayed calm sometimes and did not fight back.
