Quotes from a story or play are not always lost with time, many are still prevalent today. In Shakespeare’s play, Julius Caesar. Brutus said “It is more worthy to leap in ourselves/Than tarry till they push us.” These words have echoed throughout the years and is still relevant today. Many events in history show the quote is true. It even plays a role in the modern world, many times in the news. First off, the quote has a very clear meaning, Do not let your enemy decide what happens to you, you decide what happens. Don’t wait for them to make the first move, if you want a certain outcome then start the chain of events yourself. Brutus says this when he is camping with his military, away from Octavius’ army. He sees Caesar’s ghost and takes it as a sign to strike while his army is ready. The quote doesn’t just relate to war, if you are competing for a job or sometimes even sports, you can’t wait for the other person to make the first move and hope they mess up. Take action when you’re at your peak and you will have the upper hand in most scenarios. …show more content…
The United States of America waited until an Axis Power made a move to bring them into the fight and it cost us the lives of many great Americans in Pearl Harbor. If we took the fight to Japan first, the outcome would’ve have been much better for the Allied Forces. The suffering friends and families of many who died in the attack could have maybe seen their loved one, just one more time, to say good bye and know that their family is ok. Since then we have learn from that event and now strike before the enemy has a chance. During the Gulf war we took down a tyrant before he could start to attack others and causing more harm to his people. The first move is crucial to all political and wartime
What the US did to Japan at the end of World War 2 was unacceptable. Japan was already exhausted by the time the bombs were dropped. Their resources and their army had been worn out. The United States and Britain had just finished fighting Germany and the Soviet Union was ready to join in as well. They could all turn their full attention to defeating Japan and win the war.
Despite the fact that President Franklin Roosevelt was determined to keep the nation out of the conflict, a few months after the bombing of Pearl Harbor, Congress declared war on Japan (Higley). After this declaration, the United States was fully committed to the war effort, both militarily and economically. Even so, some Americans still believe that the United States should have kept to their traditional policy of isolationism and could have “remained safely disconnected from the greatest conflict in human history” (Boren). Unfortunately, the reality is that the United States was too slow to respond to the aggression that was occurring in Europe and Asia, enabling the Axis powers to gain an advantage. Thus, by the time the United States decided to intervene, it was already too late have avoided the
A war between two countries who perceive the world differently is one that ends with nothing but loss. Whether the loss involves money, resources, and or even innocent civilians, each country is affected. Like World War I, the involvement of the U.S was because of an attack. The bombing of Pearl Harbor in 1941 steadily worsened the crumbling relationship they had with Japan. When the U.S dropped bombs on the Japanese cities of Hiroshima and Nagasaki, they seemed not to question the consequences of their actions.
Europe and Asia had been engulfed in War World Two long before the United States was forced to join in on the Allies side. When the U.S. declared war on Japan, they had been dominating all throughout Asia in land, sea, and air. The U.S. navy at first where dealt a serious of defeats by the Japanese navy and all seemed lost. A single battle turned the tide of the war in the pacific and put the Japanese on the defensive. The United States began to push the Japanese back in a serious of major land and sea battles.
In a time where the United States of America was going through an economic crisis, some countries were invading other defenseless nations. It was the beginning of World War II, with Germany, Italy, and Japan in the Axis alliance and France with Russia and the United Kingdom in the Allies alliance. The United States decided it was best to be isolated from other world affairs and “Put America First!” As a result in December 7, 1941, Japanese planes and submarines bombed Pearl Harbor, Hawaii; a naval harbor set up in the Pacific Coast. This attack caused America’s entrance into the war.
The United States due to heavy casualties in World War 1 did not want to get involved with World War 2. Unfortunately when Japan declared war on China things changed. The actions that the United States took against Japan changed the course of World War 2. Japan sided with the Axis powers and began planning to destroy the Pacific Fleet in an attempt to disable the US Forces and allow the Axis Alliance to move further into the South Pacific. The war on the USA by Japan had been brewing for many years.

As for long as war has been going on in the world the it’s the intuitive for leaders to tell their men to attack and think later, but that has gotten a lot of innocent men and women killed. Therefore, that can be changed by the new leaders of today. As who person who wants to be a leader and go into the potential field of civil affairs I must be able to understand what I am getting into, plus what I can do to make the a change in the way the military works and it’s tactics. I believe that it is truly important that now as evolving leaders that we pay attention to what how the military functions and the wrong decisions that they made as leaders that are leading the military. As before we should be absorbing and preparing ourselves to not make the same mistakes that leaders before us has made.
However, in this report we will focus on certain situations that Pres. Wilson and Pres. FDR had when making choices in WWI and in WWII. Many may ask how did the United States even get involved in such a war? Although, as it can be seen in the following sentences the reason the United States got involved in WWII is fairly simple and an honestly valuable one unlike many may say the reason the U.S. got involved in WWI.
“The art of war is simple enough. Find out where your enemy is. Get him as soon as you can. Strike him as hard as you can, and keep moving on.” It 's a quote from U.S. Grant referring to the Battle of Shiloh.
This quote, from Brutus, means that his own thoughts and conflicts overwhelm him. In addition, his thoughts and conflicts refer to his idea that if Caesar becomes king, that he will end up harming or endangering Rome. Brutus believes killing Caesar, results to the only solution to help and protect Rome, which relates back to his conflict. Overall, Brutus’ internal conflict involves deciding to kill Caesar, or not, because he does not necessarily want to kill Caesar, but sees it as the only way to protect Rome and its people. His love for Rome and the Roman people proves greater than his love for Caesar, who he somewhat looks to as a friend.
America decided to sit on the sidelines while the war was fought because of the previous war that accomplished nothing at all and costed many american lives. After most of Europe was destroyed by germany, Japan decided it need to expand its territory. After launching a surprise attack on the us Pearl harbor naval base America entered the war against Japan and the Natzis. One of the many ways the major world war 2
Brutus’ words emphasize his devotion to his country above Caesar. He is exceptionally passionate about his beloved Rome, trumping his love for Caesar. As another example of his allegiance, Brutus says, “Brutus had rather be a villager/ Than to repute himself a son of Rome/ Under these hard conditions as this time.” (1.2.181-183) In essence, this quote implies that the depths of Brutus’ loyalty for Rome is fathomless enough to make him utterly selfless and give up his power for the sake of Rome. His righteous philosophy has strengthened his loyalty to his country, developing his selflessness.
Brutus was warned before making these decisions, but he chose to ignore them because he feels superior to others and gets out of control with wanting more power, resulting in him failing as a good
In the twenty-first century, the plays of William Shakespeare may at first appear dated and irrelevant: they use archaic language, are set in the age of Kings and Queens, and the Kingdom of England. However, it would be plainly mistaken to construe that Shakespeare’s works do not still remain integral to a twenty-first century society. Shakespeare’s plays gave the words and expressions one uses every day, revolutionized the art of theater as it was known, and forewarned about issues that would unknowingly still apply centuries later. Therefore, Shakespeare has had a profound effect on our lives by enriching our language and culture, as well as providing ideas that would still apply five centuries later, and it would thus behoove us to learn from his works and life.
