Why Obtain A Postsecondary Education

Deciding to go back to school for my master’s degree was not an particularly easy choice. I had just started a new job and found myself surrounded by smart, highly educated peers. It took me ten years to complete my undergraduate coursework, and while I was the first person in my family to obtain a bachelor’s degree, surrounded by coworkers that had master’s degrees caused me to feel very inadequate. I told myself that I was promoted to this position based on my merit and I did not need a master’s degree to validate myself. Yet, I was also faced with the fact that I would need to be competitive with my peers should further advancement become available. When considering my options I had to take into account the cost and time commitment. I knew that I would be working a graveyard schedule so trying to figure out how to fit in time to study or even attend classes was mind-boggling.

Education is a goal of mine in which I can remember in grade school. I have always wanted to be the best that I can, and strived for the best. My social location is a being factor, because what I needed from high school had to be learned in college. My social location of where I am from was not educating me on all of the credentials needed for college, and so I had applied myself more. I do have a part-time job in which aids in financially supporting my personal needs, because my tuition is being paid in full as long as I maintain my grade point average. Pursuing myself in the college world has proven to me that social location plays a significant role. I say this because as a minority I may not be the one acclaimed to go to college, but I am, and dropping out is not an

I can honestly say that the reason I want to go to college is because this is going to be the last time before I enter the work force that I can be intellectually and academically challenged, where I can learn much about all the things I wanted to learn about, with friends who were as dedicated to learning and the pursuit of knowledge as I am.

Why College? College is my life long-term goal not only it gives me the opportunity for me to learn new things it also challenges; College also expose me to many different professions in my nursing career. College is important to me because I will be the first in my family to gradated with an Associate of Science to become a Register Nurse, opening many doors in the professional field, help build the numbers of male nurses around the world, and also make my family proud. After college I won’t be receiving a piece of paper with my name on it’s going more than that it help me do become successful in life.

Is college worth the cost? Is college important? A college education can open many opportunities to a person’s career. College will help prepare a person for a career in a particular field. College will also help a person succeed in the choice of their career, this is not available to people who don’t go to college. People who tend to go to college make more money than others, and are considered more employable. More and more jobs require some form of a college degree. College is worth the cost because in the end you will have a successful life.

The only way to achieve a successful life is going to college and becoming educated. Post-secondary is a big decision most teenagers have to make .The importance of having a college degree could cost you a job. Most people overlook the difference in the amount of pay with having a college degree. Even though debt is the main reasons people steer away from college it can be paid off easily. Texas Tech University, home of the Red Raiders, has an engineering program ranked top ten in Texas and will allow me to better myself and my engineering career.

Achieving a higher education is a dream of mine. I am not your traditional college student I am thirty-one, African American female and a mother of a six year old son. Coming from a family that has little means, the thought of attempting to go to college was farfetch, something that was merely impossible to achieve. I am the second person in my family to achieve a high school diploma and the first to attend college. Growing up in Oakland Ca in a neighborhood that others seen as impoverished I called home and treated it as such. I knew my neighborhood had the possibilities of being great. I was aware of the stereotypes that was placed upon me and I decided to fight these stereotypes, by going outside of the frame of societal norms. With in my

College is a very serious topic for many individuals. For some people, it is an open door to a great career or a nice stable life, but for others it is an obstacle that they feel obligated to overcome so that they are successful in life. There are many factors that could influence someone to graduate or not graduate college. Personally, I am definitely going to go to college no matter what.

Education is very important to all of us as we decide what type of career we want. While I attended public schools growing up, I always thought about attending college. However, I became prepared for college when I attended Heritage High School through academic programs such as taking advanced placement classes, listening to advice from guidance counselors, and developing intelligent study habits to pursue my goals.

Do you think college is worth its cost? In an everyday society technology is changing every minute. College education will make sure that young adults are prepared for the new world and the challenges of working and being responsible citizens.Learning is always worthwhile. According to Rebecca Mead, staff writer for The New Yorker, college teaches students, "to nurture critical thought; to expose individuals to the signal accomplishments of humankind; to develop in them an ability not just to listen actively but to respond intelligently;" all of which "are habits of mind…from which a letter carrier, no less than a college professor, might derive a sense of self-worth."_ College also allows students to explore many different job opportunities.

When acquiring a college degree you benefit greatly. The pay you get at any job will be raised if you have worked for a college degree, some jobs won’t even look at your resume if you don’t have a degree. Many people chose not to go to college, but roughly about 1/3 of high school students continue their education at college. Overall you get a higher job satisfaction if you have snagged a college degree. I would much rather be looked up to, rather than looking up to someone who has continued their education.

Pursuing a degree with APUS is the next big step to furthering my education and starting a career. I have children. I 'm a mother of four and I always wanted what was best for them. I had to make certain decisions and scafices for them and not going to college is one. I 'm so glad that my children have decided to go to college, I 'm so proud of them. I 've always wanted to own a boutiqe shop. Now that my children are grown I have time to pick up where I left off. Applying to APUS is the first step of starting this new begining; this new journey and im excited. I have a wonderful family that supports me and gives me that courage I need to continue moving forward and I can 't forget the almighty God. God has been so good to me and my family

Education is important because is has an impact on people who are looking up to us. For example, I have three little sisters and I want them to see me graduate from both high school and college and I want them to think that they can do the exact same thing as me. Many children that you would not even think about are probably using you as an example of what they want to do in life. Education is
