Her body was discovered by her older sister. In the weeks leading up to her death, Smith had been subjected to cruel taunts and insults about her weight and a family death on Ask.fm, a question-and-answer social networking site that allows anonymous participation. Bullies on Ask.fm urged her to drink bleach and cut herself. According to Hannah 's father, she went to Ask.fm to look for advice on the skin condition eczema.

Long story short, the place where the party was held at was a murder investigation site that happened years ago, so it is advertised as being haunted. Tiffany goes to the party, but Bryan is not gonna let her go and have fun without any consequences behind it. Bryan and his best friend play a prank on her and the party goers and they haunt them, pretending to be the murderers that killed the teenagers back when the incident first happened. The first story that explores the fear society has of certain women is “Nineteen Thirty-Seven.” In the story Nineteen Thirty-Seven, Josephine a young haitian girl, whose mother was captured and thrown in prison because she was accused of being a witch. Women are portrayed as wicked and evil. For example, “ ‘And before the women went to sleep the guards made them throw tin cups of cold water at one another so that their bodies would not be able to muster up enough heat to grow those wings made of flames, fly away in the middle of the night, slip into the slumber of innocent children and their breath.’ (Danticat 37-38)” This quote shows that the guards are scared of these imprisoned women because they fear that these women might fly out
She however is very reactive to this situation, she doesn’t tell anybody what happened, she steals late passes, hides in an abandoned janitor closet, and eventually ditches school. In the novel, Sharp Objects, by Gillian Flynn, Camille Preaker is a journalist for the Daily Post in Chicago. Camille is sent to write a report in her hometown, Wind Gap. This report is about the Nash family; they had a total of four kids, but Natalie Keene, the youngest girl in the family, gets murdered and they have no idea how and why it happened. When Camille first arrives in Wind Gap, she begins looking at the case and eventually solves the mystery of what was going on in Natalie's life.
