If you had been told your entire life that books are evil, it would be hard to change your views without experiencing it for yourself. When Beatty talks to Montag, he tries to convince him that he should not be curious about books. Beatty tells him the truth about their society. By sharing this with Montag, Beatty makes Montag rethink everything that he thought that he knew about life. Beatty enabled Montag to see how terrible their society is and how unhappy he is; even though that had not been Beatty’s intention.
Mark Twain wrote this book to show readers what life was like. He connected it to his life growing up and wanted to make readers aware of the way people were treated for the color of their skin. Censoring or banning this book would be a crime because it teaches so much and we do not need to change it. Racism was and is a problem in our society and Mark Twain brings it to the surface through a fictional novel. By forcing a book to be changed and molded to make people more comfortable, it is saying you can alter history and history cannot and should not be erased.
They are generally motivated by hatred of Jews and build on the claim that the Holocaust was invented or exaggerated by Jews as part of a plot to advance Jewish interests.” (Holocaust Denial and Distortion). There are truly people who think this way and believe the Jews were just using this “fake” story to help themselves. People need to see and understand what the jews went through, because we can’t just let that slide as if it were nothing, something like this needs to be seen, no matter how gruesome. It needs to be seen and spread, until there is absolutely no denying what happened.
John Hale known as the witch hunter in Salem inspires fear when his name is spoken ,instead John Hale was a good person because he didn’t really want to kill anyone ,just wanted to save them before they fully went to the Devils side and sign his book ,and he did whatever he cool to help save the accused. John hale wasn 't really the killing kind of person. He was the if u confessed that you where dealing with the devil the he did what he could to save them not go straight to hanging them. When he found out that Tituba was dealing with the Devil and that she wrote her name in his book he worked to help her become holly. from the story "The Crucibles" John Hale stated after they found out that Tituba was dealing with the Devil if she would "let him cleans her from all her sins".
A book about Greek and Roman children of god's going to Hades and Tartarus. There's even resurrection in this book. Nope, sorry students can't read that, banned. The book is an interesting action packed and most important full of lessons. The lessons learned from a book are always the most important thing in the book.
Atticus sees this, and he understands the Ewell’s blamed Tom Robinson for rape, because Mr. Ewell doesn’t want to get in trouble. Also, Hitler is in power, and Scout learned about him in class. Scout talks about Hitler to her father, and he responds, “‘It’s not okay to hate anybody’” (Lee 246). Atticus has good ideals, and realizes you shouldn’t hate anyone, even if they are inhuman.
I don’t think it’s right to euthanize people with mental disabilities because they’re still people and they still have hope for a better future and their life is still important even if it doesn’t seem like it. I do agree with George killing Lennie because Lennie would die a really harsh, painful, and slow death by the other men that were trying to find him if George didn’t calm him down and shoot him. Of course, it was the biggest plot twist in the whole book and it broke our hearts, but George did if for the best. In conclusion, George did the right thing and actually helped Lennie instead of harming him and others around
As the author is told he is being drafted to war, he becomes very upset. He clearly does not want to be part of it. His initial says, “I was too good for this war. Too smart, too compassionate, too everything. It couldn’t happen.
The most important points Vonnegut is trying to get a crossed to his readers are the issues of the inevitability of war, fatalism, and of free will. War is usually fought over religious beliefs, different cultures, land, or governmental disputes. We as people are more willing to be violent to one another to get our point across then to avoid war entirely by recognizing everybody's differences and learning to live together in peace and the key to no violence is communication. War is inevitable because both sides are never going to accept one another's differences. The bombing of Dresden wasn't necessary because there was no threat coming from there.
To read a more uplifting book is not in itself an inherently bad idea, but to do so purely because teachers believe that Night is a dark book that presents the darker side of humanity at its most real point is to ignore the evil, and cover up the parts of the Holocaust that they don’t like. Night displays the Holocaust at its ugliest face, describing the acts of those
It is true that racism and prejudice is neither morally or logically correct, but unless people are able to competently contest those views without resorting to the destruction of other opinions and thought, those issues will continue to prevail. The famous treatise against bigotry, To Kill a Mockingbird, has been criticized and banned for its use of racial slurs, despite accurately portraying the America of that time. Forgetting our past, no matter how shameful, only ensures that it will be repeated – books help us not to forget. How can we improve as a society if we do not even allow ourselves to remember the mistakes of previous generations? Harriet Beecher Stowe 's Uncle Tom 's Cabin created outrage in the South due to its "anti-slavery" ideas, resulting in it being banned.
The book The Outsiders is full of many important lessons but only some can affect life today such as the fact that fighting is not good no matter how bad the situation is. We can take this lesson and apply it to our lives now even though stuff like this isn’t happening as much as it did in the book. This is most important because there is so much violence going on in the world and, people have no reason. We need to learn that violence isn’t always the answer. The book shows us that when violence is the only solution it will end very badly.
This book is great description and example of how things are set up and going now a days. Our society focuses too much on making things fair and equal and not allowing people to be them own selves. Burning books takes away people 's right, their happiness, and knowledge. Ray Bradbury does a really good job of relating things from that day in time to now. Even though he doesn 't come right out and say it we see stories in the novel that easily relate to now.
As stated by Zinn, “One reason these atrocities are still with us is that we have learned to bury them in a mass of other facts…” (Zinn). The US and European education systems teach students about this controversial topic by stating the positive facts because what happened in the past “should affect very little what we do in the world” (Zinn). History, in general, should not be viewed as unimportant, especially when it involves a genocide. One should reflect on this historical experience by understanding their point of view.
He gained his power from propaganda, preying on the hopes of the innocent, and a governing system without limitations. Something of this magnitude should never come into effect again, and there should be checks and balances in place to prevent such occurrences. Furthermore, this horrific genocide also portrays the atrocity of racism. Racism is still in dilemma in society today. Although the holocaust was tragic, it can serve as a reason why people need to love, and support each other, rather than hate, and
