If school started later, teens would be able to get more sleep, therefore increasing both their concentration and academic performance in classes. A later start gives students a longer attention span and a better morning. Obviously these things would really affect how the student performs. In addition, schools with later start times are likely to have higher attendance rates, according to the National Sleep Foundation. In an interview with many WAIS students, many students tend to sleep anyway during school, so they don’t even bother to show up, having to wake up that
"We're going to look back on this time period and wonder why it took so long," said Phyllis Payne of Start School Later. This will help teens excel to their fullest and not be held down with lack of sleep. Many students don’t get the sleep they need to function throughout the day and many kids fall asleep in class says Bridget Shelton, a freshman at Seattle's Roosevelt High School. This is another reason why Park City High School should start at a later time. Last but no least, many students that drive in high school are likely to be out at night driving and if they are tired and sleep deprived, then they are more likely to crash their car from drifting off the road.
Sports and activities at night can make finding time for homework hard for students. The extra time in the morning may give them some room to sleep a bit more or finish some last minute homework. With students getting more sleep, we will see an improvement in their test score and grades, which can help them later in
I propose that Carmen should start doing block schedule because this will give the students an opportunity to get more one on one with their teachers for longer class periods and to have less homework each night so that students aren't staying up late. 2)We should have block schedules at Carmen so that students are having more work time in class and less homework at night that causes them to stay up late. Having a block schedule will allow students to have less homework at night this also prevents them from staying up late. My friend who goes to a school that once had no block schedule. She had said they had changed to block schedule and that everything went very well for her after that.
One other reason why school should start later is because it is more convenient. In the first place it’s better for one’s health. In order for your body to grow and develop you have to get enough sleep. If you do not get enough sleep it will lower the immune system and increase one’s chances of getting ill. Also, if school starts later you will be able to have a proper and healthy breakfast. It is important for students’ because with there growing bodies and developing brains they need regular refueling often, from food.
Next, Implementing this four-day school week schedule can result in financial improvements from the decreased cost of maintaining school utilities, as well as improved student performances and lower absence rate. Next, Because there is many advantages such as increased finance and lower absence rate of the students, school district should shift their schedule to four-day school week. Now on, By adding a third day to the weekend, students can focus in their classes and perform better in school. Next, Many students and faculties miss school days to attend some significant events such as doctor’s appointment. Now on, Changing the school schedule to extra free day allows the people to attend these events without disrupting the attendance and not miss any school days so that they do not fall behind everyone else.
Do kids really need to get up before daylight just to get to school on time? The answer is no. School should start later. We need more sleep for our brains to function right, also our circadian rhythm changes as we get older making us go to sleep and wake up later, too. One reason school should start later is that less than 20% of kids get the recommended hours of sleep-9.5 to 8.5 hours- and that causes problems in the classroom and teens who do not sleep enough are moody in the classroom.
Many people argue whether school start times should stay the same or become later in the day. Most students already don't get enough sleep during the night and that can affect their learning experience in school (Wahlstrom). However some positive effects can still come from waking up early in the morning and getting to school around the same time. Although good can come from waking up early in the morning and sleeping in, students still need later school starting times to improve their overall health. Teenagers need more time to sleep based on the development of their brains.
Some people believe schools should start later because students would get more sleep but they would just go to sleep later because they get up later. Schools should start at the same time because of transportation, cost, and after school activities. Since transportation is one big problem with schools starting at a later time, it should stay the same. Public busses are one way that students get to school in the morning and back home in the evening. The public buses might only go to the school at certain times in the day, and if school starts later in might interfere with those times.
Most students would disagree, but I believe they would be a good thing. One reason I believe this is because you would not have to stress out each and every morning to find an appropriate and comfortable outfit to wear- it would already be picked out for you! Because you had a uniform and did not have to spend the extra time before school to decide what to wear, you will get to sleep in fifteen to thirty minutes longer than normal. Because you slept in, you will be more awake and cheery when you arrive to school. Making you more awake will bring up test scores and can even give you some incentive to complete missing work.
There are many reasons why school starting later will help students focus better on work. First of all, since the kids get more sleep, they won’t be so tired in the morning and will improve on work. Regarding this, Kids need up to 8.5 to 9.5 hours of sleep in order to be able to be prepared for the day. In addition, ⅔ of high school students only get 7 or less, hours of sleep. Another reason why school starting later will help students
Kids can get a lot more sleep at night. Absences can drop 15% because many kids get more sleep. Kids will not fall asleep in class because they got more sleep. Kids can not get distracted, and kids won’t have to wake up early in the morning. Less kids will miss school because some kids will miss school when they don’t get enough sleep, and kids will be able to get a little more than 8 hours sleep so they won’t face slew problems, and kids can get to school on time.
Should Middle School Start Later In The Day? Many students around the world have school really early in the morning. Every adolescent need at least eight in a half hours of sleep each night. If you are an athlete who gets enough sleep then you would have less of a chance of getting injured. If the schools started later in the day absences would drop.
A later start time would be beneficial in productivity increases, more time for morning preparation, and the fact that extracurricular activities and sports would not be affected. First and foremost, the later start time would allow for students to be more productive. Having eight hours of sleep will keep a student focused on learning, rather than feeling tired. Also, students with homework can
I feel that school should start later in the day. In my next few paragraphs I will talk about, the acceptable things about starting school later in the day and the crummy parts about starting school later in the day. Starting school later in the day could help with test scores, seep, and absentees. Kids with more rest can think better since their minds are not so focused on sleep, and they more focused on the work that they need to do which would help with tests. If kids receive more sleep their bodies could fight off more diseases and bacteria.
