Countries should not have greater disadvantages compared to the United States based on low-income. The United States has a lot more advantages than low-income countries due to its wealth, such as well paid jobs, working with men and not having to stay at home with their children. It is a fact that women in the United States are more likely to be poor then men. Over half of the thirty-seven million Americans living in poverty today are women. The gap between men and women in poverty is far vaster in America than anywhere else.
Furthermore, the rate for African Americans without a job is about twice as much compared to white Americans. If Richard were writing about the unfair job opportunities given to African Americans, he would not be pleased by the way black people are being deprived. In addition, he would be disappointed at the way educated black people are treated in comparison with a white high school
Are reparations needed? Some people may never accept the fact that America is a white supremacy. But statistics show that African-Americans are consistently at the bottom of the educational, financial, and employment scales , and there are only one of two explanations for that. Either blacks suffer from a genetic retardation which hinders their luck amongst society , or the most obvious and serious reason that yesterday’s slavery is the cause for today’s shortcomings .
The second reason they make, the recent recession having, in most part, significantly negatively affected black families, while benefiting white families to a small degree. Another reason that correlates to the wealth gap Hamilton and Darity claim is the fact that black families are less likely to receive mortgages for purchasing homes, even in cases where black families make significantly more than lower income white families. Now to resolve this Hamilton and Darity say that the public sector must intervene and offer support to black
This is caused by a person living within poverty’s lack of proper resources. A Pittsburgh Post-Gazette/Milwaukee Journal Sentinel analysis of data from the largest U.S. metropolitan areas has shown that people who are living in poor neighborhoods have a higher decrease in health than a person who is from a more stable economic neighborhood. The study has also shown that people living within poor neighborhoods also have a higher likely-hood to live in areas with
Of course, like all other social science statistics , it is not without Controversy. Other estimates range from poverty in the United States from 10-21% , depending on one's political leanings. This is why many sociologists prefer relative, rather than absolute definition of poverty. Depending on the relative definition of poverty , the poor are those who do not need what most Americans , because their income is less than half the average income in the country decent . By this standard, while living in poverty from about 20 percent of Americans , this is at least the past 40 years the situation .
The overall results of the study were out of the one hundred and eighty-nine in the comparison group, thirty one or 16.4% had initiated in sexual intercourse by the one year follow up. Compared to the program intervention group, only thirty-two out of the three hundred and forty seven virgins or 9.2% had
Admittedly, Hispanics are neither the only nor the first minority facing educational difficulties: achievement differences among ethnic groups have existed before and Latinos are definitely not the only group that has been afflicted by race inequality in education. (!) However, right now Latinos are the lowest performing population group regarding educational achievement in the United States (Gándara, Contreras 18). While 90 percent of whites, 85 percent of African-Americans, and 89 percent of Asian-Americans between the age of 25 and 64 have finished high school, only about 64 percent of Latino 25- to 64-year-olds have earned a high school diploma (Maxwell 2). Their postsecondary attainment not only lags behind the attainment of white but also of black and Asian students (Adams 1).
Education can be affected by poverty Education in America is an opportunity that every child receives. For many of these children education is their only way out of poverty. Twenty two percent of our nations children live in poverty. The United States is ranked second in child poverty out of the 35 richest countries in the world. Education was supposed to be the route to achieving the American Dream, but it turns out to be more of a dream then a reality for the poorer kids in our nation.
