Why Was George Washington Important

George Washington is one of our countries Founding Fathers. He was the first US President and served between 1789 and 1797 (George Washington Biography). He was called the father of our nation for the important role that he played in the formation of America.

Washington was the commander-in-chief of the revolutionary forces. He was largely responsible for forcing the British forces out of Boston while inspiring a fragile and weak army. Washington almost single-handedly saved the nation from disintegration and defeat. Although there was no grandeur moment that changed our society when we won the war, the revolutionary war touched nearly all aspects of early American life, from things like slavery, women's rights, religion, politics, etc.

George Washington was an important role in the creation of the Constitution of the United States in the year 1787. His goal was to create a nation that would stand strong, even with the war between Britain and France. He also helped to create and draft the Proclamation of Neutrality, which spelled out the country's stand of not involving itself in conflicts of foreign nations. He worked to set up a better tax collection system, assisted in the creation of a national bank, and was

Washington's judiciary created the supreme court-which serves as a mediator of disputes between states. Shortly after, George followed with another accomplishment, this was the organization of the United States first cabinet, which consisted of four members (George Washington,Virginia). Washington's cabinet established credibility and balance, and underneath this cabinet, he created the executive offices-which still serves today as the cabinet, and presidents, backbone.
